Are you a finance professional passionate about making a difference? NEXT Harm Reduction is seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Fiscal Director to lead our financial operations and support our vital mission of providing online and mail-based harm reduction resources. This isn't just a job; it's an opportunity to contribute to a movement that saves lives.

    About NEXT Harm Reduction:

We believe in meeting people where they are. We provide essential resources to individuals facing barriers to accessing in-person services, driven by compassion, evidence-based practices, and a commitment to reducing the harms associated with drug use. We're experiencing significant growth and need a skilled financial leader to ensure our continued success.

    What You'll Do:

As our Fiscal Director, you'll be the financial backbone of our organization, playing a crucial role in maintaining our financial health and enabling us to expand our reach and impact. You'll:

    • Oversee all financial functions, from daily transactions and grant administration to budget development and compliance.
    • Manage month-end and year-end closes, cost allocation across grants, revenue recognition, cash management, and meticulous management of restricted funds.
    • Prepare and submit timely reports to funders and leadership, providing clear insights into our financial standing.
    • Collaborate with auditors and manage year-end adjustments.
    • Utilize QuickBooks Online (with fund accounting and classing system expertise) and advanced Excel skills for budgeting and expense analysis.

    What You'll Bring:

    • Deep understanding of non-profit accounting principles, especially related to grant management and compliance.
    • Expertise in QuickBooks Online, including fund accounting and using a classing system for tracking grants.
    • Proficiency in working with auditors and managing restricted fund balances.
    • Advanced Excel skills for budget creation and detailed expense analysis.
    • Excellent communication skills to present financial information clearly to diverse audiences.
    • Ability to work independently, demonstrating strong organizational skills and attention to detail.

    Why Join NEXT?

    • Make a Real Difference: Directly contribute to a mission that saves lives and supports vulnerable communities.
    • Competitive Compensation & Benefits: $90,000 annual salary, 100% employer-sponsored health insurance, and a retirement plan with a 3% company match.
    • Generous Time Off: 88 hours of paid holiday time (with a flexible "floating holiday" policy), 15 vacation days, 12 sick days, and 5 personal days.
    • Hybrid Work Option (After 6 Months): Enjoy the flexibility of a hybrid work schedule in NYC after successfully completing the initial onboarding and training period, contingent upon successfully learning and maintaining all fiscal functions, and providing monthly closing of individual grant billing and organizational-wide reconciliations provided to the executive director for review.
    • Inclusive & Supportive Culture: We value lived experience and strongly encourage applications from individuals with personal or family experience with drug use, criminal justice involvement, homelessness, and/or sex work, as well as people of color, women, members of the LGBTQIA+ community, and people living with HIV/AIDS and/or Hepatitis C.
