    Job Title: Administrative Coordinator

    Organization: California Center for Movement Legal Services

    Location: Oakland, California

    Reports to: Executive Director and Directing Attorney

    About the California Center for Movement Legal Services (Movement Legal):

    Movement Legal provides legal services in the pursuit of improving the lives of California's traditionally underserved residents, including communities of color, low-income and working families, and undocumented people, by carrying out legal work that fosters organic leadership development, policy creation, robust civic participation, and broad community empowerment through community organizing. For four years, we’ve had great success crafting novel legislation based on community needs, bringing impact cases out of community organizing campaigns, and advising and defending the tenant movement and its participants and organizers in court.

    Movement Legal is deeply committed to transformative change through community organizing. This position will be a vital bridge between our successful work for the community and our deep commitment to our staff.

    Position Summary

    The Administrative Coordinator will provide essential administrative and legal support to the organization. This is a full-time position that offers a competitive salary and excellent benefits.

    Responsibilities

    Executive Assistant Duties

    Assistant executive director with administrative and coordinating support around the following responsibilities:

    • Development through individual donor fundraising
    • Development through foundation and other grant opportunities
    • Assist with grant reporting
    • Support the executive director with calendar management, appointment scheduling, and travel coordination
    • Assist with billing and accounting related tasks to be able to then forward onto accountant
    • Assist with scheduling, minutes and other tasks supporting board and board meetings
    • Assist with office management tasks, such as ordering supplies and maintaining equipment

    Legal Assistant Duties

    • Assist with case preparation and trial support
    • File and e-file court documents
    • Schedule meetings, appointments and interviews with clients as needed
    • Provide proactive client service by addressing inquiries timely, accurately, and professionally
    • Maintain updated client account and contact information
    • Enter client matter expenses into Practice Management System (Clio) and assist with client billing
    • Prepare client letters and mailings
    • Other tasks and duties as assigned

    Requirements and Skills

    • General familiarity with law, legal procedures, and protocols or strong desire to learn
    • Strong computer literacy
    • Attention to details
    • Proficiency in Spanish is highly preferred
