Position Overview: motherhouse collective is seeking a passionate and dynamic Chief Development Officer (CDO) to lead our fundraising and development efforts during our critical start-up phase. The CDO will play a key role in shaping the future of our organization by securing the financial resources necessary to advance our mission of supporting learning, working and stay-at-home mothers through co-working spaces, childcare, and personal development programs. The ideal candidate will be a strategic thinker with a proven track record in fundraising, corporate sponsorships, and donor relations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Pre-501c3 Approval
- Fundraising Strategy: Develop and implement a comprehensive fundraising strategy to support the organization’s financial needs, including individual giving, corporate sponsorships, grants, and major gifts.
- Identify potential donors and key leaders to help with fundraising and relationship building
- Board Development: Assist with educating the Board on fundraising and donor cultivation process
- Operations: Work with Executive Director to establish best practices for fundraising data. Systems will be set up by the Executive Director.
- Corporate Sponsorships and Partnerships: Identify potential partnerships and collaborations
- Financial Planning: Work collaboratively with the CFO to project fundraising needs.

- Donor Cultivation and Stewardship: Build and maintain relationships with donors, ensuring effective stewardship and cultivation of new and existing donors. Implement systems to track donor engagement and ensure timely follow-up and reporting.
- Corporate Sponsorships and Partnerships: Identify and secure partnerships with corporations and local businesses, offering co-branded opportunities, event sponsorships, and naming rights to support our mission.
- Grant Writing and Management: Research, write, and manage grant applications to secure funding from foundations and other granting bodies. Track deadlines, ensure compliance with grant requirements, and submit timely reports.
- Fundraising Events: Plan and execute fundraising events, such as annual galas, community events, and donor appreciation gatherings. Collaborate with volunteers and staff to ensure the success of these events.
- Campaigns and Appeals: Lead the design and execution of donor campaigns, including annual appeals, capital campaigns, and online fundraising initiatives. Develop compelling messaging and utilize digital platforms to engage donors.
- Collaboration with Executive Team: Work closely with the Executive Director, CFO and Board of Directors to set fundraising goals and develop long-term financial strategies to support program growth and sustainability.
- Volunteer Management: Recruit, train, and oversee volunteers to support fundraising efforts, including donor outreach, event planning, and campaign execution.
- Financial Planning: Work collaboratively with the CFO to project fundraising needs and grant tracking.
Qualifications:
- Proven experience in nonprofit fundraising, development, and donor relations, with a demonstrated ability to secure significant funding.
- Strong knowledge of corporate sponsorships, grant writing, and individual giving strategies.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build relationships with a diverse range of stakeholders, including donors, corporate partners, and community leaders.
- Experience in planning and executing fundraising events and campaigns.
- Strategic thinker with the ability to create and implement long-term fundraising plans.
- Strong organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines.
- Familiarity with fundraising software, donor databases, and digital fundraising tools.
- Passion for the mission of motherhouse collective and supporting mothers and families.
Commitment:
- 5 hours a week commitment to shaping and driving the financial growth of motherhouse collective.
- Work closely with the Executive Director and Board of Directors to achieve fundraising goals.
- Attend all Board Meetings and fundraising committee meetings
