    SUMMARY

    USA for UNHCR, a certified Great Place to Work non-profit organization headquartered in Washington, DC, is excited to announce its annual Internship Program for Summer 2025. USA for UNHCR’s vision is “A world where every person forced to flee can build a better future.” and its mission is to protect and support refugees by mobilizing resources, elevating awareness, and driving action through a network of engaged supporters.

    The Human Resources team seeks a highly motivated and enthusiastic individual to serve as an intern. This paid internship offers a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience and contribute to USA for UNHCR’s mission and vision. The internship is open to undergraduate students pursuing a degree in Human Resources, Business, Management, Psychology, or a related field, or those who have completed equivalent coursework. This in-person, 10-week assignment is designed to provide exposure to the diverse pillars of Human Resources, including benefits and administration, employee engagement, recruitment, and learning and development.

    This internship is ideal for students seeking to build foundational HR knowledge while making a meaningful impact on the organization and its mission. The intern will work closely with HR professionals, gaining valuable insights into the operations and strategy behind a high-performing HR team. Candidates must embody USA for UNHCR’s core values: Passionate, Data Driven, Transparent, Forward-Thinking, Cutting Edge, and Dynamic.

    This paid internship runs from June 2, 2025, to August 8, 2025. The position is hybrid, requiring in-office work on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday, and remote work on Monday and Friday. The intern must be available for the entire 10-week duration. The internship is based at our office in Washington, DC. Room and board are not included.

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Assist with day-today tasks related to
    • benefits administration, including employee inquiries, benefits onboarding, and document management.
    • Support employee engagement initiatives by contributing to events, surveys, and recognition programs that promote a positive workplace culture.
    • Participate in recruitment activities such as posting job descriptions, reviewing resumes, scheduling interviews, and maintaining candidate databases.
    • Collaborate on learning and development projects, such as coordinating training sessions, tracking participation, and assisting with the development of resources and materials.
    • Provide general administrative support to the HR team, including maintaining accurate records and ensuring compliance with organizational policies.
    • Participate in HR team meetings and contribute ideas to enhance HR processes and programs.
    • Serve as an HR point of contact for other interns.
    • Maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive HR information with discretion.

    QUALIFICATIONS

    EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

    • 0-2 years of relevant experience
    • Ability to be a quick and eager learner
    • Strong attention to detail
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel and Word
    • Ability to quickly learn new software and database programs
    • Demonstrates passion; the willingness to go the extra mile and stellar customer service
    • Well organized, and proven ability to multi-task and manage their time
    • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
    • Demonstrates passion for USA for UNHCR’s mission
    • Be able to identify and resolve problems in a timely manner and gathers and analyzes information skillfully
    • Have high energy, clear goal orientation and strong work ethic.
    • Be an effective team player, be collaborative.
    • Have strong organizational skills.

    WORK LOCATION

    Headquarters Office – Washington, DC

    COMPENSATION

    $18 per hour
