    DVP is seeking a seasonal Marketing and Communications intern for the Spring of 2025. The Marketing and Communications Intern will support the Supervisor in achieving our project’s marketing, PR, and communications goals. This position will provide hands-on experience in managing development and communications tasks that will expand reach, awareness, and engagement for the project across channels and platforms.

    This position will require 8-12 hours a week on a hybrid model. The position lasts from February through April of 2025. Interns will receive a $500 stipend at the end of the three months.

    ABOUT DVP:

    The Domestic Violence Project (DVP)’s mission is to help survivors of intimate partner violence and their children live free of violence and abuse, marshalling the combination of legal and advocacy services necessary to secure justice and a dignified quality of life. We consider intimate partner violence – regardless of gender, sexual identity, religion, immigration, or other status – to be a human rights violation. We serve an average of 1,600 survivors annually across all five boroughs of NYC through our comprehensive direct services (legal representation in family law and immigration matters, holistic case management, and empowerment groups), plus an additional 1,000+ reached through community outreach, education, and legal clinics.

    JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

    The position will include creating engaging social media content, including graphics and mobile videos, and monitoring their effectiveness; creating and supporting media relationships; supporting our email and newsletter marketing campaigns; creating and supporting social and organizational partnership opportunities; auditing and updating the website; and assisting with other marketing duties as needed. The position will also include opportunities to learn more about how DVP legal advocacy works by engaging with our family and immigration law teams.

    Qualifications:

    • In-depth knowledge of Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, TikTok, YouTube, LinkedIn
    • Bachelor’s degree (or currently pursuing) or equivalent experience in marketing, media, communications, or a related field
    • Passionate about the mission of DVP and the areas of domestic violence, immigration, housing, and/or family law

    Skills:

    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
    • Detail
    • oriented and organized
    • Excellent time management skills and self-initiative, comfortable working both collaboratively and independently
    • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office
    • Experience managing social media platforms (Instagram, TikTok, LinkedIn, etc.)
    • Experience with design (Ex: Canva, Illustrator, Photoshop, etc.) a plus
    • Experience utilizing social media analytics a plus
    • Experience working with video editing programs (Ex: Adobe, Final Cut, etc.) a plus
    • Have a team spirit, strong work ethic, and a sense of humor.
