Position Overview:
Too Young to Wed (TYTW), a nonprofit organization dedicated to protecting, educating, and empowering girls at risk of or who have survived child marriage, is seeking an experienced and driven Grants and Development Officer with a background in gender issues or international development. This contractor role is integral to TYTW’s mission, focusing on securing funding, cultivating donor relationships, and ensuring the sustainability of programs that advance gender justice and the rights of marginalized girls worldwide.
Key Responsibilities
Grant Writing and Management:
- Research, identify, and prioritize funding opportunities from foundations, corporations, government agencies, and other sources, with a focus on gender and international development initiatives.
- Craft high-quality grant proposals, letters of inquiry, and applications that highlight TYTW’s impact in addressing child marriage and empowering girls globally.
- Manage the full grant lifecycle, including submission, reporting, and compliance with donor requirements.
- Build relationships with grantmakers and funding institutions to strengthen partnerships and identify new opportunities.
Fundraising and Donor Relations:
- Collaborate with the leadership team to implement TYTW’s fundraising strategy, focusing on securing funding for programs that promote gender equality and social justice.
- Cultivate and steward relationships with individual, corporate, and foundation donors, ensuring regular communication and engagement.
- Develop compelling donor communications, including impact reports, newsletters, and acknowledgment letters, that reflect TYTW’s commitment to gender justice and international development.
Database and Metrics Management:
- Maintain accurate donor and grant information in TYTW’s CRM system (e.g., Salsa Labs), ensuring timely updates and compliance.
- Monitor fundraising metrics and provide data-driven insights to inform development strategies.
- Track deadlines, renewal opportunities, and reporting schedules to ensure timely submissions.
Collaboration and Strategic Input:
- Partner with program and communications teams to align grant proposals and fundraising materials with TYTW’s mission and gender-focused priorities.
- Integrate narratives of gender justice, social impact, and international development into all development efforts.
- Contribute to the planning and execution of donor events, fundraising campaigns, and other engagement activities.
Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in gender studies, international development, nonprofit management, or a related field
- Experience: At least 3-5 years of proven experience in grant writing, nonprofit development, or fundraising, with a successful track record of securing significant funding for gender-focused or international programs.
- Strong knowledge of global gender issues, women’s rights, and social justice frameworks, particularly in the context of child marriage or related areas.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to craft persuasive and compelling narratives for diverse audiences.
- Proficiency in donor management systems (e.g., Salsa Labs) and familiarity with data analysis tools.
- Strong project management skills, including the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
- Self-motivated, detail-oriented, and collaborative, with a passion for TYTW’s mission and values.
