Position Summary
The Volunteer Manager (VM) is responsible for recruiting, engaging, retaining, and
managing volunteers to support program operations, participant services, and ranch
maintenance. Key duties include overseeing outreach, screening, onboarding, training,
scheduling, task coordination, and recognition. With a focus on expanding the volunteer
base by 30%, the VM ensures capacity aligns with organizational needs.
The VM will also serve as a community ambassador, promoting HCR’s mission and
opportunities to diverse audiences. A successful candidate will have nonprofit volunteer
management experience, a commitment to DEI, and passion for adaptive riding and
disability advocacy. Strong leadership and organizational skills are essential.
Our ideal candidate is an experienced manager, preferably with a
background in growing and leading successful volunteer-driven programs,
who excels at inspiring and engaging individuals and groups. You are
passionate about HCR’s mission and work, bringing expertise, innovation,
and enthusiasm to the role.

Work Environment/Physical Requirements
This role takes place in a ranch/rural setting, with exposure to dust, animals, uneven terrain,
and various weather conditions. The position involves routine office work with standard
equipment like computers, phones, and photocopiers. Employees must be able to perform essential duties, which include standing for long periods, walking on uneven ground, climbing, bending, and lifting up to 40 lbs. (or more with assistance). Vision must support tasks such as close and distance vision, depth perception, and focus adjustment. Occasional use of ranch-related equipment may be
required. Exposure to extreme weather, including wind, rain, and heat, is possible. Accommodations
for disabilities may be provided.
