    interactions with specially trained horses, participants gain confidence, mobility, and well-

    Volunteers gain valuable insights into the abilities of individuals with disabilities, fostering

    understanding and challenging misconceptions. These connections between participants,

    Position Summary

    The Volunteer Manager (VM) is responsible for recruiting, engaging, retaining, and

    managing volunteers to support program operations, participant services, and ranch

    maintenance. Key duties include overseeing outreach, screening, onboarding, training,

    scheduling, task coordination, and recognition. With a focus on expanding the volunteer

    base by 30%, the VM ensures capacity aligns with organizational needs.

    The VM will also serve as a community ambassador, promoting HCR’s mission and

    opportunities to diverse audiences. A successful candidate will have nonprofit volunteer

    management experience, a commitment to DEI, and passion for adaptive riding and

    disability advocacy. Strong leadership and organizational skills are essential.

    background in growing and leading successful volunteer-driven programs,

    who excels at inspiring and engaging individuals and groups. You are

    and enthusiasm to the role.

    Essential Qualifications

    • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field (e.g., nonprofit management, social services, volunteer coordination, therapeutic recreation) or at least three years of professional
    • management experience with relevant training in nonprofit, volunteer, and/or program management.
    • Proven ability to manage and engage volunteers, fostering positive participation and cultivating a culture of community service.
    • Strong written, verbal, and presentation skills, with the ability to effectively engage diverse stakeholders, including executive leadership, the Board of Directors, staff, volunteers, community members, funders, and external partners.
    • Proficiency in English (reading, writing, and speaking); bilingual in Spanish is a plus.
    • In-depth understanding of Halleck Creek Ranch’s mission, vision, and impact, with the ability to communicate the organization’s goals effectively to stakeholders.
    • Cultural competency, with outstanding interpersonal and relationship-building skills, and able to foster inclusive engagement with individuals from diverse backgrounds.
    • Proficiency in nonprofit technology tools, including Microsoft Office Suite, Google Workspace, and volunteer/donor management systems.
    • Highly adaptable, dependable, and results-oriented, with strong problem-solving and project planning skills.
    • Ability to handle confidential information with discretion, adhering to nonprofit ethics and privacy policies.
    • Self-directed and collaborative, with the ability to work both independently and as part of a team to achieve program goals.

    Additional Preferred Qualifications

    • Current CPR/AED/First Aid certification or willingness to obtain upon hire.
    • Certified in Volunteer Administration (CVA).
    • Experience in Equine Assisted Services (EAS) or knowledge of adaptive riding and horse-assisted programs in a therapeutic setting.
    • Experience working with individuals with developmental, learning, or behavioral differences, demonstrating commitment to inclusion and disability advocacy.
    • Proven leadership in volunteer supervision, onboarding, and training, with effective mentoring and engagement skills.
    • Knowledge of humane horse handling, horsemanship principles, and best practices.

    Key Responsibilities Include: Volunteer Recruitment, Onboarding and Training,

    Fostering Engagement, Recognition and Retention, Volunteer Program Administration and

    Agency-wide coordination and support of organization wide activities.

    Work Environment/Physical Requirements

    This role takes place in a ranch/rural setting, with exposure to dust, animals, uneven terrain,

    and various weather conditions. The position involves routine office work with standard

    equipment like computers, phones, and photocopiers. Employees must be able to perform essential duties, which include standing for long periods, walking on uneven ground, climbing, bending, and lifting up to 40 lbs. (or more with assistance). Vision must support tasks such as close and distance vision, depth perception, and focus adjustment. Occasional use of ranch-related equipment may be

    required. Exposure to extreme weather, including wind, rain, and heat, is possible. Accommodations
