    Position Description

    DISABILITY SWIM CLASS - PROGRAM MANAGER

    75% Remote, 25% In-Person

    The Nonprofit Organization

    SNAPkids - Special Needs Aquatic Program is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization serving children and young adults with disabilities in the San Francisco Bay Area. Since 1991, SNAPkids has provided accessible community-based swimming to an underserved population of children with complex conditions which alter their health and quality of life. Through swimming, children develop pride, self-confidence, and friendships while having fun. Volunteers build meaningful relationships that foster respect, diversity, and inclusion, helping to create more equitable communities.

    The Opportunity

    We are a small but mighty team on a mission to support children with disabilities. We’re looking for a team player to join us in spreading the message of respect, community, and inclusion while coordinating our classes and expanding our programs. We are seeking a team member who is personable, highly organized, and capable of managing deadlines and unexpected changes. They should have a growth-oriented, forward-thinking mindset and a strong dedication to creating positive and successful experiences for our community. The goals for this position include ensuring our programs run safely and smoothly, maintaining a well-trained staff, fostering a strong sense of community, and helping us expand our offerings to serve more families.

    The Role

    Class Organizing

    1. Create and maintain master schedules for weekly classes and clinics
    2. Oversee the registration process and update forms in collaboration with registration associate
    3. Develop weekly class schedules for each site
    4. Work with texters and schedules to ensure maximum participation
    5. Manage active participants, substitutes, and waiting lists
    6. Maintain attendance records and session metrics
    7. Procure and maintain supplies and equipment
    8. Update and send out surveys to participants

    Management

    1. Supervise aquatic staff - support site coordinators, deck supervisors, pool leaders, and pool volunteers
    2. Serve as a liaison with facilities for calendars, contracts, insurance, equipment storage, and special requests
    3. Conduct in-person site visits to active programs at least once a month and visits to assess potential new sites
    4. Oversee volunteer and swimmer recruitment
    5. Develop budgets for site-specific and special programs
    6. Manage program fees

    Staff Training

    1. Coordinate staff trainings
    2. Oversee all training needs related to the pool program
    3. Develop and update training materials as needed
    4. Create video training components and/or downloadable materials
    5. Assist in developing a resource library and/or helper site
    6. Engage with aquatic professionals to stay updated on training techniques
    7. Support professional development in adapted aquatics

    Participant Recognition

    1. Implement touch point opportunities to recognize participants
    2. Identify gifts for holidays and year-end
    3. Coordinate, track recognition, and gifts for participants
    4. Develop and implement special recognition initiatives

    New Programs

    1. Develop and implement summer programs, swim clinics, and family clinics
    2. Identify and evaluate potential new location options though site visits; develop programs around them
    3. Develop proposals, budgets, and implementation plans
    4. Support staff training and curate, update, and create digital content

    Additional tasks as requested by the director.

    Skills

    • Demonstrated interest and/or experience in aquatics; lifeguarding and instructing experience preferred
    • Demonstrated interest and/or experience working with the disability community
    • Managing groups of people, motivating and leading others, building community identity
    • Managing data through spreadsheets, shared platforms with high proficiency, accuracy, and organization
    • Excellent written, verbal, and proofreading skills, including the use of inclusive language
    • Strong time management skills to ensure deadlines are met
    • Ability to work effectively with people from diverse cultural and economic backgrounds
    • Proficiency and competence with these platforms: Google Workspace (Google Docs, Sheets, Slide, Sites, etc.); Microsoft Office Suite

    • Rate: $40-50, depending upon Experience (DOE); W-2 employee, 403(b) matching
