    DESCRIPTION

    Science Club for Girls (SCFG), a Cambridge-based non-profit established in 1994, seeks a detail-oriented, organized, and proactive Operations Manager. In this role, you will oversee inventory management, including cataloging, purchasing (online and in-person), and receiving curriculum materials, as well as ensuring supplies are stocked and organized for curriculum supply packing events. You’ll work closely with the Director of Operations to manage supplier relationships, handle administrative and operational tasks to support our growing organization and will work closely with the Senior Program Director to oversee the distribution of supply kits to Science Club participants. The ideal candidate will be motivated by our mission, have experience in operations/inventory management and be able to collaborate effectively across teams.

    DUTIES

    • Manage Inventory: Oversee curriculum supply inventory, including organizing and maintaining storage areas. Prepare office space and organize storage for completed kits, including setup and maintenance of storage areas. In the most recent packing season, we prepared 1,100+ supply kits (each containing 8 weeks of Science Club activities and school supplies).
    • Maintain Inventory System/Catalog: Maintain catalog system to track inventory.
    • Procure Club Curriculum Supplies: Purchase supplies (online and in-person), receive deliveries, and manage inventory of curriculum materials. To date, supplies have been purchased for 9,000 individual experiments.
    • Vendor Management: Collaborate with the Director of Operations to manage the relationship with our outsourced curriculum packing vendor.
    • Collaborate with Teams:
      • Work closely with the Program Team to determine curriculum supply needs.
      • Work closely with the Development Manager on set-up and preparation for Curriculum Packing Events.
    • Support Office Administrative Tasks: Support administrative functions including maintaining office facilities, ordering monthly lunches, organizing office supplies, coordinating office supply shipments, and other ad hoc duties as assigned.

    POSITION REQUIREMENTS

    • Prior operations and/or inventory experience required.
    • Exceptional organizational skills with the ability to manage physical spaces, including organizing shelves and setting up storage areas.
    • Prior experience with procurement and purchasing.
    • Comfortable with both online and in-person shopping to source club materials and supplies required.
    • Must have the ability to coordinate, accept, move and process large deliveries.
    • Experience managing relationships with external vendors.
    • Ability to work across multiple teams.
    • Experience with supporting and preparing for events preferred.
    • Experience in providing administrative support and the willingness to be flexible and adaptable as needs change.
    • Strong problem solving skills with the ability to troubleshoot issues related to inventory management, ordering logistics, and propose solutions in a timely manner.
    • Ability to lift 50+ lbs.

    SALARY AND BENEFITS

    SCFG is located in Kendall Square, convenient to the Kendall/MIT MBTA station. This position requires on-site work 5 days a week. Occasionally, SCFG participates in organizational or partner related events that occur on weekdays and weekends. The salary range for this position is $55,000-$60,000. Benefits include 401(k), health and dental insurance, 3-weeks paid time off plus one week off at the end of the calendar year, 12 paid holidays, and 6 personal/sick days annually. This position is open to Massachusetts residents only. A valid Massachusetts driver's license is required for this position. The role requires driving to vendors, clubs, and events within the Greater Boston area. Candidates must be willing to travel throughout the region. The ability to operate a vehicle in compliance with Massachusetts state laws is essential to perform the job effectively.
