The National Health Law Program (NHeLP) protects and advances the health rights of low-income and underserved individuals. NHeLP engages in national, state, and local advocacy efforts, including analyses of federal and state laws, policy advocacy, litigation, continuing legal education, and individual technical support. We work with lawyers and advocates, community-based entities, federal and state policymakers, health care providers, and clients.

THE TEAM
As part of the Mission Coordination Team, the Administrative & Operations Senior Associate will work with the Executive Director and the Managing Director, Federal Advocacy out of our DC office. The DC office houses both policy and non-policy staff, including the Executive Director, Chief Operating Officer, and most of NHeLP’s Development and Communications teams. The Administrative & Operations Senior Associate will also participate in Federal Advocacy Strategy Area (FASA) meetings, run by the Managing Director, Federal Advocacy to assist with project coordination.
NHeLP's Mission Coordination Team (MCT) provides essential support to those implementing NHeLP's mission, vision, and equity stance. The MCT manages the organization's day-to-day business operations, including financial and budgeting management, legal compliance, risk management, technology, office administration, and logistics for Los Angeles, CA, Washington, DC, and Chapel Hill, NC offices.
The Administrative & Operations Senior Associate will report to MCT’s Operations Manager for all operational duties at-large. The Administrative & Operations Senior Associate will be invited and encouraged to participate in other departmental and organizational opportunities and initiatives, such as our Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion affinity groups, committees, and task forces. That work would be considered part of and not in addition to the person’s job responsibilities.
THE POSITION
NHeLP is looking for a driven and highly motivated Administrative & Operations Senior Associate to perform a range of high-level administrative responsibilities to maximize the Executive Director’s and the Managing Director, Federal Advocacy’s time and effectiveness with a sense of urgency for and passionate commitment to health care and civil rights. The ideal candidate will possess the ability to interact with staff at all levels as well as board members in a fast-paced environment, sometimes under pressure, remaining flexible, proactive, resourceful, and efficient, with a high level of professionalism. The position requires strong organizational and time management skills, as well as the ability to drive numerous projects and deliverables, and must be able to properly prioritize tasks. Further, the position also requires initiative, inquiry, and sound decision-making while working with the Executive Director, Managing Director, Federal Advocacy, and other stakeholders.

COMPENSATION
The compensation range for this position is between $64,103.00 – $68,110.00 annually depending on years of experience. Compensation is competitive, commensurate with experience, and in alignment with internal equity. Candidates, either newly hired or new to the role, can typically expect a salary between the range minimum and maximum depending on qualifications, internal equity, and the budgeted amount for the role.
Generous benefits are available, including employer-paid medical, dental, life, and disability insurance, as well as pre-tax savings plans and retirement savings opportunities (up to 3% employer matching after one year of employment). NHeLP also offers generous paid time off, including holidays, sick time, personal time, Family and Medical Leave, 150 hours (20 days) of vacation per year, and more.

LOCATION
All NHeLP offices are fully remote, subject to job requirements and team-based determination of meeting needs. This position is largely remote, but may require in-person attendance at meetings in Washington D.C. with NHeLP teams, external partners, at coalition meetings, and possibly with members of the federal administration or their staff. Some travel outside of Washington, D.C. will be required. There is also an expectation that all NHeLP staff will gather in-person at least once and possibly twice a year.
