    What You’ll Do

    Reporting to and partnering with the Managing Director of People, you will lead the daily operations of our People team, ensuring seamless, efficient processes that provide exceptional support to staff throughout the employee lifecycle. As the HR Generalist, you will be the primary contact for core HR functions including payroll and benefits administration, compliance, working in partnership with ADP, benefit providers, and the MDP. You will lead the maintenance of HR systems and ensure accurate people data reporting and analysis. You will also support the People team with staff engagement initiatives and continuous improvements to our HR and talent management systems in support of fostering a positive, people-centered, inclusive, and high-performing workplace culture.

    The ideal candidate brings a combination of technical HR experience in payroll, benefits, and systems, with a continuous improvement mindset and desire to support a broad range of HR and talent initiatives and projects to support employee engagement. This role requires someone who is highly organized, service and people-focused, adaptable, and capable of balancing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment while delivering responsive, solutions-oriented support.

    Payroll, Benefits, and Systems (50%)

    • Serve as lead administrator payroll and benefits in ADP Workforce Now and benefit portals, ensuring accuracy and compliance with relevant regulations across jurisdictions; maintain digital employee records; employee changes, prepare letters
    • Provide support through administration of employee benefits programs, including insurance, FSA, retirement plans, and leave policies; reconcile, and audit benefit invoices and ensure compliance.
    • Serve as technical liaison for all people systems, including ADP and benefit portals, and lead on the execution of process improvements and efficiencies to systems.
    • Lead annual benefits open enrollment process by preparing ADP systems, communication materials, informational sessions, and processing employee elections.
    • Conduct market research and benchmarking for compensation and benefits to help inform salary placement and benefit offerings.
    • Prepare HR reports as needed such as staff demographics, headcount, attrition, and payroll summaries; and create a people-analytics dashboard.

    Employee Life-Cycle (25%)

    • Assist with recruitment efforts, including posting job openings, screening resumes, scheduling interviews, conducting initial phone screenings, maintaining applicant tracking system, and ensure timely communication with candidates; and project manage the implementation of new application tracking system.
    • Manage an efficient new hire onboarding process from offer acceptance through supporting hiring managers in the creation of onboarding plans; Support the onboarding process for new hires, including preparing offer and pay change letters and completing required documentation; and lead in coordinating offboarding activities.
    • Policy Management: Assist in the development and maintenance of company policies, standard operating procedures, and support MPD with design and implementation of new compensation system updates.

    Internal Staff Culture and Communications (25%)

    • Engagement and Internal Communications: Lead initiatives to improve staff engagement, staff connection and community across our organization, including working with the program and operations associate to execute on internal staff newsletters and updates, staff recognition initiatives.
    • Design and execute on culture and engagement strategy, co-design and facilitate community-building engagements during All-Staff meetings and in-person retreats.
    • In partnership with MDP, analyze trends and metrics to recommend solutions, systems, initiatives, etc that will better the organization as a whole.

    Within the first 6 months you will:

    • Manage the day-to-day payroll, benefits administration, and have completed a thorough benefit analysis, partnered with MDP to finalize recommendations for future offerings, and a work plan to implement changes for the next open enrollment session.
    • Assist the MDP in the implementation of the compensation system updates in ADP, policy development, and maintenance of standard operating procedures.
    • Lead continuous improvement efforts to people systems and processes (such as implementing a new applicant tracking and improvements to onboarding process).
    • Support internal staff culture by organizing activities that foster connection, recognition, and a sense of belonging.

    Who You Are

    • Have 3- 5 years of human resource experience, payroll and benefits administration preferred (familiarity with local employment laws, regulations, and compliance)
    • Have experience in ADP Workforce Now payroll system and HR software (or similar), with the ability to create data report and dashboards, troubleshoot,
    • Nonprofit experience, preferred
    • Organized with exceptional attention to detail and accuracy, project management skills and ability to multitask and prioritize work independently
    • Excellent verbal, written and presentation skills, and high-impact communication style
    • Proactive problem solver and discipled self-starter that thrives in an ambiguous environment with ever-changing priorities
    • Experience working in and supporting culture and engagement in a remote organization, preferred
    • A drive for excellence in the service provided to our most important customers: our staff!
    • Have a passion for and commitment to advancing opportunities and outcomes for students

    Location and Travel

    This is a remote position. Candidates residing in CST or EST time zones are preferred. Travel is required at least once per year to participate in and support logistics for annual staff retreats.

    What we Offer

    The salary range is $70,000-$80,000. The salary will be determined based on the selected candidate’s specific qualifications, relevant experience, specialized knowledge, and internal equity.

Teach Plus offers generous time off benefits, including 15 vacation days, 3 personal days, 5 sick days, 13 holidays, two org-wide breaks (July and December), and summer ½ day Fridays in July and August. Teach Plus offers paid parental leave and a 4-week paid sabbatical for every five years of service.
