    ABOUT JASC AND JOB SUMMARY

Founded in 1946, JASC helped resettle nearly 20,000 Japanese Americans in Chicago following their incarceration during WWII. The organization’s initial focus was on jobs and housing and shifted to provide social services to support the Japanese American & broader Chicago community. Today, JASC offers Adult Day Services & Home Support Services for older adults, preserves Japanese American cultural heritage through the Legacy Center archives and collections, and shares Japanese culture through classes, art and music.

JASC is at an exciting inflection point in its 79-year history and has recently moved into a newly renovated building in the West Ridge neighborhood of Chicago, allowing the organization to expand programs and impact a wider community that serves all ages, races, and ethnicity from a foundation of Japanese American values.

The Home Support Services (HSS) program at the JASC offers assistance to individuals who need in-home care in a compassionate and culturally competent manner. Currently, JASC employs 75+ homemakers to service 90+ clients throughout the city and suburbs of Chicago. Homecare aides also assist clients with personal care tasks, such as dressing, bathing, grooming and following special diets.
