    What are we looking for?

    YSC seeks a highly motivated, bi-lingual English/Spanish, mission-inspired professional to administer and implement aspects of YSC initiatives aimed at supporting the young adult breast cancer community of survivors, metastatic breast cancer (MBC) thrivers and co-survivors (caregivers.) The candidate will be detail-oriented, excel at multitasking and can take on significant responsibilities – working both independently and as part of our team. The candidate must be willing to travel, as occasional travel is required to meet the responsibilities of the position.

    What will you be doing?

    Supporting YSC’s primary constituents. This includes specific tasks such as:

    • Serve as a compassionate and knowledgeable point of contact for young adult breast cancer patients, survivors, MBC thrivers, and co-survivors (caregivers), offering psychosocial support, information, resources, clinical trial opportunities, and referrals.
    • Provide personalized 1:1 support and resource navigation through telephone, email, direct messages, and in-person interactions at YSC and related events, while also serving as a liaison with partners and collaborators of Peer Matching.
    • Administer YSC’s Virtual Hangout series, ensuring a meaningful and well-coordinated experience by maintaining relationships with designated peer facilitators and licensed clinical social workers.
    • Strengthen existing resources dataset to enhance access to Social Determinants of Health (SDOH) referrals, such as transportation, food security, financial assistance, and legal services.
    • Empower young Black, Latinx, Asian, and LGBTQ+ breast cancer survivors, thrivers, and co-survivors by connecting them with YSC programs, resources, and events. Help improve their medical and digital health literacy, enhance patient-provider communication, and navigate complex healthcare systems.
    • Administer YSC’s private Facebook groups, fostering community engagement and emotional support.
    • Contribute to the development of evaluation metrics and methods to ensure YSC’s support initiatives effectively meet the diverse needs of constituents and programmatic goals.
    • Develop expertise in the unique concerns of young, diverse survivors and MBC thrivers, serving as a trusted resource and advocate.
    • Maintain referral pathways with healthcare providers, ensuring seamless access to YSC’s support programs.
    • Identify opportunities for program innovation and operational efficiencies by cultivating strategic relationships, engaging collaborators, and leveraging volunteer support.

    Play an active role on YSC’s Mission Team and contribute to the meaningful work:

    • Collaborating with all YSC Directors and others on the team to move planned projects through implementation and evaluation including:
      • YSC’s in-person and virtual conferences
      • Volunteer engagement
      • Department communications and data input
      • Program evaluation
      • Assessment of constituent needs
    • Work on special projects as needed and assigned.

    Qualifications: What are we looking for?

    3+ years of relative experience in a patient-facing nonprofit or healthcare setting

    • Bilingual English/Spanish
    • Bachelor’s degree in Social Work or similar degree
    • Knowledge of best practices in the areas of understanding and meeting support needs of the young, diverse cancer community
    • Experience working with various stakeholders
    • Communicates clearly and concisely in both verbal and written communications
    • Commitment to excellent customer/constituent service
    • High level of professionalism and verbal/written communication

    The salary for this position is $45,000-$50,000/year, taking into account geographic location and years of experience. Young Survival Coalition is an equal-opportunity employer.
