    Volunteer Opportunity: Newsletter Editor

    The Before Slavery Museum is seeking a creative and motivated volunteer to help create and manage our newsletter. This is a wonderful opportunity to contribute to our outreach efforts, keep our community informed, and sharpen your writing and communication skills.

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Conduct research in order to inform both short and long-form stories
    • Produce and utilize images, infographics, and other visual elements
    • Pitch and write timely articles based on the progress of the project in order to keep donors up to date
    • Serve as a liaison between the non-profit and the donors by collecting data about the project from different department heads and consolidating and distributing this information in a compelling way on a consistent basis
    • Once you receive approval, upload/distribute content on designated platforms

    Qualifications:

    • Strong writing, editing, and communication skills.
    • Creative and detail-oriented with an eye for design and layout.
    • Proficient in using email marketing platforms (e.g., Mailchimp, Constant Contact, or similar).
    • Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
    • Previous experience with content creation or newsletters is a plus, but not required.
    • A passion for storytelling and engaging audiences through written communication.

    Time Commitment:

    • Estimated 5-10 hours per month (flexible).
    • Ability to work remotely and set your own schedule.
