Volunteer Opportunity: Newsletter Editor
The Before Slavery Museum is seeking a creative and motivated volunteer to help create and manage our newsletter. This is a wonderful opportunity to contribute to our outreach efforts, keep our community informed, and sharpen your writing and communication skills.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct research in order to inform both short and long-form stories
- Produce and utilize images, infographics, and other visual elements
- Pitch and write timely articles based on the progress of the project in order to keep donors up to date
- Serve as a liaison between the non-profit and the donors by collecting data about the project from different department heads and consolidating and distributing this information in a compelling way on a consistent basis
- Once you receive approval, upload/distribute content on designated platforms
Qualifications:
- Strong writing, editing, and communication skills.
- Creative and detail-oriented with an eye for design and layout.
- Proficient in using email marketing platforms (e.g., Mailchimp, Constant Contact, or similar).
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
- Previous experience with content creation or newsletters is a plus, but not required.
- A passion for storytelling and engaging audiences through written communication.
Time Commitment:
- Estimated 5-10 hours per month (flexible).
- Ability to work remotely and set your own schedule.
