Girl Scouts of Alaska

  • Acerca de

Girl Scouts of Alaska is the proven leadership development program for girls in grades K-12. Girl Scouts provides a safe, inclusive environment for Alaska’s diverse population of girls, regardless of income or socioeconomic background.

With the help of more than 1,000 adult volunteers, Girl Scouts of Alaska (GSAK) serves around 4,000 girls from Bethel to Ketchikan. GSAK is headquartered in Anchorage, with a field office in Juneau.

As a local Girl Scout council, GSAK is chartered by the national office, Girl Scouts of the USA (GSUSA), to be responsible for the leadership, administration, and supervision of Girl Scout programs in Alaska.

GSAK also helps ensure that the Girl Scout program in Alaska is delivered in a manner that is nationally consistent by supporting the use of GSUSA’s program resources such as the award-winning Journeys curriculum and Girl’s Guide to Girl Scouting.

Through a myriad of enriching experiences – such as troop membership, camps and outdoor education, workshops and events, and financial literacy skills gained through the Girl Scout Cookie Program – girls grow courageous and strong.

    Girl Scouting helps girls:

    • Develop their full individual potential
    • Relate to others with increasing understanding, skill, and respect
    • Develop values to guide their actions and provide the foundation for sound decision-making; and
    • Contribute to the improvement of society through their abilities, leadership skills, and cooperation with others.
    • Building on the traditional values of the Girl Scout movement, we meet the needs of girls in Alaska today.
