About Girl Scout Council of the Nation’s Capital
Girl Scouts Nation’s Capital believes in the power of every G.I.R.L. (Go-getter, Innovator, Risk-taker, Leader)™ to change the world. We offer every girl the opportunity to discover who she is, what she can do, and connect her with a powerful community of girls and mentors to make it happen. With unique programs designed by girls, for girls, Girl Scouts explore, learn, succeed and take action to make a difference in their community. The Girl Scout program focusses on four pillars: STEM, Outdoors, Entrepreneurial Skills and Lifeskills.
With support from dedicated adult volunteers, parents and staff, we deliver the best Girl Scout experience to 74,740 members: 47,062 girls and 27,678 adults in the Greater Washington Region, which includes the District of Columbia and in Maryland: Allegany, Washington, Frederick, Montgomery, Prince George's, Charles, Calvert and St. Mary's Counties; in Virginia: Page, Shenandoah, Warren, Frederick, Clarke, Fauquier, Loudoun, Fairfax, Arlington and Prince William Counties; and in West Virginia: Jefferson, Berkeley, Morgan, Hampshire, Mineral, Hardy and Grant Counties.
Our membership is enriched by the diversity of our region. Girl Scouts Nation’s Capital is an inclusive organization and welcomes all girls in Kindergarten through twelfth grade. Our council works intentionally to create more accessible, equitable, and inclusive opportunities for our diverse communities of girls, volunteers, and staff members. Girl Scouts Nation’s Capital also values diversity in our leadership, and we strive to ensure our volunteers, staff, and board members reflect the communities we serve.
