The Emergency Grant Intern works closely with single-parents enrolled in postsecondary schools who are experiencing an unexpected financial emergency that might be a barrier to continuing their education. Raise The Barr defines an emergency as a one-time unexpected expense for which our $1k or less emergency grant will help stabilize the family and allow the parent to continue school and/or employment. We differentiate an emergency from a crisis, the latter for which a $1k or less grant will likely not stabilize the family.
