    Organization Overview

And special projects as needed (5%).

    Who You Are

Experienced Youth Development Advocate - Your expertise does not come from a specific number of years in the field or type of degree and certificate, it comes from the hands on experience of working and developing relationships with middle school-aged girls of color (perhaps in summer programs, camps, in the classroom, after school programs, or other capacities). You’ve recruited students to join a program using multiple methods, such as tabling events, parent recruitment events, classroom visits, email outreach, and recruitment fairs. You’ve seen firsthand the challenges of engaging

Effective Program Manager - You manage effectively upwards, sideways, diagonally. You are able to work independently and collaboratively. You are able to strategically prioritize the most important and impactful projects while keeping the others moving or explicitly placing them on the backburner. You hold a high bar for the accuracy and timeliness of your work, including follow-up and follow-through. You exhibit these qualities without succumbing to perfectionism or false urgency, and you don’t expect that of your colleagues, either! You’ve got your system for getting things done, and it gets-things-done! You are able to track multiple work streams at once, know where you are with any given project, and you hold a high bar for the accuracy and timeliness of your work, including follow-up and follow-through. You anticipate challenges and can devise creative, pragmatic solutions to help us move forward. You are solutions-oriented and flexible in your approach.

Demonstrated Commitment to Race, Equity and Inclusion - You have demonstrated success in ensuring more equitable and inclusive outcomes for those impacted by your work. You understand the impact of systemic and implicit biases related to race and gender identity that can play out in the workplace — both on your team(s) and with the Scholars. You center equity, justice, inclusion, and belonging in all aspects of the work. You proactively spot issues of equity and inclusion in the work and can bring practical solutions by drawing on personal experience combating white supremacy, racism, and other interconnecting systems of oppression. You can name and grapple with how your own identities play out in the work. You effectively collaborate and engage with folks across lines of difference and power towards outcomes and goals.

Strong Interpersonal and Relational Skills - You need to be able to quickly build strong relationships with prospective students and parents (across racial, gender, ability, and class identities, among others), and think strategically about how to cultivate relationships to find the students we need for our program(s). You provide helpful and informative communication when something is missing or needs fixing. You are known for being highly responsive. You can distill what you’ve heard and quickly, coherently, and effectively offer immediate (not to be mistaken with complete) remedies to some of the challenges expressed -- either in writing or verbally.

Clear Writing and Communication - You excel at synthesizing, capturing, and communicating information in ways that are clear and warm for diverse audiences (parents, students, schools, instructors, or staff). Your strong organizational skills help you coordinate across multiple groups and ensure that everyone has the information they need, even with limited guidance. You have a keen ability to find and share the key details that matter, transforming complex information into concise, easy-to-understand messages. You can craft and deliver compelling updates, keeping everyone aligned and informed. You value feedback, know how to adapt your communication style, and have the flexibility to adjust or rethink your approach when needed.

Additionally, international travel experience is highly desirable, as the Program Manager will accompany students on international trips.
