    The SkillSource Group, Inc. (SSG) supports economic and workforce development initiatives throughout Northern Virginia. As a full-time SSG Job Developer for the Northern Virginia Employment Advancement for the Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF) Initiative, you will be part of a Virginia Department of Social Services-funded initiative to assist both employers and TANF-eligible adults seeking employment in the entire Northern Virginia region, including the counties of Fairfax, Loudoun, and Prince William.

    This position will focus on providing workforce and job placement services to adult parents eligible for the Federal Targeted Assistance for Needy Families (TANF) program. The incumbent will conduct program outreach throughout Fairfax, Loudoun, and Prince William Counties, including briefings and presentations, to both businesses and potential employers, develop work-based learning/internship opportunities and permanent job placements with employers, and assist clients with identifying job leads and securing education and training. The incumbent will collect, track and report on job placement progress and wage information data and work with representatives from the Northern Virginia city and county TANF agencies.

    Responsibilities and Tasks:

    • Meet regularly with Virginia Career Works Northern Partner organizations who may make TANF program referrals for employment assistance, to discuss program progress through monthly conference calls among partners to assure consistent and accurate information sharing, identification of challenges and updates on project performance outcomes.
    • Market program to regional employers with a focus on Fairfax, Loudoun, and Prince William Counties.Identify and develop employer relationships and employment opportunities to place program participants into subsidized work-based learning/internship and permanent long-term employment.
    • Assist referred participants with job search, resume writing and career counseling. Assist job seekers with accessing and using American Job Center and other regional employment resources.
    • Work with partners and workforce development staff to ensure timely coordination and communication for job services activities. (Assist with job fairs, and other employment related events.)
    • Track, monitor and document program activities and services provided to clients and employers as well as progress toward grant outcomes. Enter, organize, and maintain accurate electronic files using a Salesforce database and MS Office Suite for reporting on all participants to successfully meet grant outcomes. Perform other duties as required or assigned in support of the proposed grant project.
    • Participate with the Northern Virginia Employer Solutions Team, which meets monthly, to identify and share employer and job leads for the public workforce system.

    Required Qualifications:

    The Job Developer must reflect the following background and characteristics:

    • At least two (2) years of work experience is required. A strong understanding and background in administering and providing public workforce services to adults and in a One Stop Employment Center environment is preferred. While a four-year degree is not required, substantial years of work experience in similar environments will be positively considered.
    • Experience, comfort, and desire to work with various vulnerable populations such as re-entry, immigrants, veterans, disabled, low-income adults seeking employment opportunities.
    • Diligent work ethic, integrity, maturity and good judgment, an ability and willingness to multi-task, a great sense of humor and an excellent proficiency in Microsoft Office products and utilization of web-based tools is essential.)
    • Good understanding of the Northern Virginia labor market and industries and occupations in demand. Ability to align skills and credential attainment with in-demand skills requirements by local employers.
    • Access to and use of a privately-owned automobile for travel throughout the Northern Virginia region. Business mileage is reimbursed at the IRS-approved mileage rate.)

    The Job Developer reports to the SSG Vice President, Public Assistance Programs and will be actively engaged in a team effort comprised of SSG staff and professionals from a wide variety of partner organizations. This position is a 40 hour per week commitment. This position is funded for the remainder of an 8-month grant project, commencing November 2024. The position will continue beyond June 2024 with continued grant funding.

    Compensation and Benefits:

    Salary is negotiable depending on education and experience, up to $70,000. The SkillSource Group offers an outstanding benefits package.

    Office Location: Multiple locations. The Job Developer will be expected to travel frequently to meetings with local Fairfax County, Loudoun County and Prince William County businesses and will meet with designated job seekers in locations that are mutually convenient. This position will be able to telework and/or work out of the SkillSource administrative offices located at 8270 Greensboro Drive, Suite 850, McLean, VA 22102. Free parking is provided.
