    The Member and Donor Information Specialist (MDIS) plays a vital role in ensuring a high-level of service to AMC’s members and donors by managing accurate gift processing, maintaining data integrity, and providing exceptional customer service. As a part of AMC’s Development Team, the MDIS is responsible for processing membership payments, donations, and subscriptions, while collaborating across departments to ensure consistent data quality and efficient operations.

    This full-time position reports to the Assistant Director of Development Operations and is based at AMC’s Boston headquarters, with an option for a flexible hybrid schedule that balances in-office time with working from home.

    What You’ll Be Doing at AMC:

    • Ensure quality and accuracy of member and donor data in Salesforce, becoming AMC’s expert on gift entry, opportunities, fund codes, and subscription processes.
    • Process and sort Development mail and coordinate accurate and timely gift processing with the Gift Processing Associate.
    • Coordinate, process, and reconcile a variety of donations and pledges, including annual fund, monthly giving, memorial and honorary gifts, restricted contributions, matching gifts, and corporate/foundation grants.
    • Support Contact Service Center staff by providing guidance on resolving member and donor inquiries and escalating complex issues when necessary.
    • Administer the Trailblazer (monthly giving) program, maintaining active memberships, sending credit card update reminders, conducting personal follow-ups, and providing annual gift summaries.
    • Manage data integrity processes, including contact information updates, duplicate elimination, and address standardization.
    • Handle donor correspondence related to matching gifts and member/donor transactions.
    • Partner with Assistant Director of Development Operations to streamline gifts processing and acknowledgement procedures, maintain strong lines of communication, and develop approaches to manage unusual gifts and grants.
    • Coordinate with Finance to reconcile donations, manage refunds, and maintain general ledger protocol.
    • Maintain subscriptions from libraries and ensure data integrity of Appalachia Journal subscriptions.
    • Serve as a Salesforce ‘power user,’ contributing to updates in the Salesforce procedure and data governance manual.
    • Manage gift processing from workplace giving portals (e.g. United Way, CFC, Earthshare, Benevity, etc.), stock gifts, wire transfers and grants

    What AMC is Looking For:

    • 3+ years of data entry or database management experience, with a demonstrated growth in responsibilities.
    • Excellent organizational, interpersonal, and communications skills, with a strong commitment to high-level customer service.
    • Strong attention to detail, accuracy, and ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
    • Proficiency in Salesforce or similar CRM systems strongly preferred.
    • Ability to work independently while maintaining collaborative relationships.
    • Strong commitment to maintaining confidentiality, especially relating to donor information.
    • Passion for AMC’s mission and interest in protecting, conserving, and enjoying outdoor spaces.

    • Salary: $47,362 - $63,986

    We are committed to fair compensation practices. The initial salary represents our starting point, and our compensation philosophy is designed to reward and recognize the contributions of our employees as they grow within the organization. External candidates typically begin their journey with us at the starting point of the salary range. The final compensation offer will be based on factors such as experience, education, competencies, and geographic differential relevant to the position, and will be discussed during the interview process.
