    The Advocacy Administrative Associate will provide administrative and logistical support for the execution of Advocacy departmental and programmatic work and priorities, including events. The position joins a growing team that is deepening our advocacy efforts along four primary methodologies: shifting power and policy; campaigns and movement building; political education and research; and art and culture. The Advocacy Administrative Associate will help provide the infrastructure and internal systems and processes necessary to effectively execute our work.

    The ideal candidate is a motivated and creative individual with superb attention to detail and the ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.

    Location: Remote, within commuting distance of New York City with ability to provide in-person support as needed

    Responsibilities:

    • Provide administrative support to the Advocacy team including: scheduling meetings and note-taking; maintaining and updating departmental files, contact lists, and advocacy calendars; coordinating mailings, photocopying, scanning, and faxing documents as needed; monitoring Advocacy Team listservs and general information email accounts
    • Track and submit Advocacy team finances including: credit card reconciliations, reviewing invoices and preparing check requests, including for honoraria, and other finance-related items
    • Organize travel and accommodations for Advocacy team staff and partners
    • Support the Advocacy team in executing in-person and virtual events, including researching and liaising with venues, vendors, and speakers; posting events to the website, and sending events-related emails; and assisting with event preparation, set-up, and registration as needed
    • Support the Advocacy team in developing best practices for document and project management systems
    • Participate in departmental and organizational planning and organization-wide committees and carry out work assigned
    • Additional tasks in support of the Advocacy team’s programmatic work as directed by the Advocacy Director

    Qualifications:

    • Minimum of two (2) years of related experience
    • A belief in the mission of the Center for Constitutional Rights, commitment to social justice issues, and comfort working in a progressive legal and/or non-profit environment
    • Familiarity with the issues central to the Center for Constitutional Rights’ work
    • Strong written and oral communications skills and messaging instincts
    • Excellent organizational and time-management skills, including proven ability to efficiently manage multiple tasks and priorities under tight deadlines and in a fast-paced environment
    • Excellent problem-solving skills, including ability to anticipate problems and use judgment appropriately to plan solutions
    • Excellent attention to detail with a high level of accuracy
    • Excellent written and interpersonal communications
    • Strong digital skills, with proficiency in MS Office, Adobe, and Google applications; experience with online tools such as Every Action or other CRMs is a plus, but not required
    • Ability to work both independently and as a member of a team
    • Integrity, grace under pressure, and a sense of humor
    • Multi-cultural competence and comfort – ability to work with a diverse team and to work across differences at all levels
    • Ability to work some evenings and occasional weekends as required; some travel may also be required
