The Residential Aide role at the Practice of Peace Foundation involves supporting clients during evening, weekend, and holiday shifts at the shelter location. This position requires facilitating daily activities, promoting a safe and nurturing environment, and assisting clients in developing independent living skills.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide direct support to clients housed at the emergency shelter.
- Implement and monitor evening activities to ensure client engagement and compliance with shelter rules.
- Maintain order by enforcing behavioral guidelines.
- Coordinate with day staff, case managers, and referral agencies for client accountability.
- Maintain accurate records of client activities, behaviors, and progress.
- Supervise housekeeping duties and ensure sanitation standards.
- Distribute meals, monitor food inventory, and handle meal deliveries.
- Maintain security by conducting hourly rounds, monitoring facility entry/exit logs, and managing unit access.
- Assist with unit transfers, resident orientation, and bed inspections.
- Collaborate with social services and security staff to manage onsite incidents.
- Report incidents, handle emergency situations, and monitor child safety.
Administrative Duties:
- Record and log resident arrivals, exits, and incidents.
- Maintain all required logs (school attendance, emergency contacts, etc.).
- Adhere to housekeeping mandates by keeping office spaces clean.
- Fill in for kitchen or operations desk staff as needed.
Qualifications:
- Associate degree in Human Services, Business Administration, or a related field with 4+ years of direct service experience.
- Fire Safety Certification.
- Valid NY Driver's License.
- Strong organizational skills, sound judgment, and a commitment to the foundation’s mission.
