    Description

    The Residential Aide role at the Practice of Peace Foundation involves supporting clients during evening, weekend, and holiday shifts at the shelter location. This position requires facilitating daily activities, promoting a safe and nurturing environment, and assisting clients in developing independent living skills.

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Provide direct support to clients housed at the emergency shelter.
    • Implement and monitor evening activities to ensure client engagement and compliance with shelter rules.
    • Maintain order by enforcing behavioral guidelines.
    • Coordinate with day staff, case managers, and referral agencies for client accountability.
    • Maintain accurate records of client activities, behaviors, and progress.
    • Supervise housekeeping duties and ensure sanitation standards.
    • Distribute meals, monitor food inventory, and handle meal deliveries.
    • Maintain security by conducting hourly rounds, monitoring facility entry/exit logs, and managing unit access.
    • Assist with unit transfers, resident orientation, and bed inspections.
    • Collaborate with social services and security staff to manage onsite incidents.
    • Report incidents, handle emergency situations, and monitor child safety.

    Administrative Duties:

    • Record and log resident arrivals, exits, and incidents.
    • Maintain all required logs (school attendance, emergency contacts, etc.).
    • Adhere to housekeeping mandates by keeping office spaces clean.
    • Fill in for kitchen or operations desk staff as needed.

    Qualifications:

    • Associate degree in Human Services, Business Administration, or a related field with 4+ years of direct service experience.
    • Fire Safety Certification.
    • Valid NY Driver's License.
    • Strong organizational skills, sound judgment, and a commitment to the foundation’s mission.
