About this position:
HEAL currently operates a $3.1 million annual budget, with a portion of all revenue redistributed to members. The Finance Manager contributes to the overall functioning of HEAL by managing and tracking all aspects of HEAL’s finances – from programmatic expenses to fundraising – with support from the Operations Team. The Finance Manager reports to the Director of Operations and Culture.
The ideal candidate has meticulous attention to detail and knows that sound financial management enables an organization to thrive and achieve its mission. They recognize the value of impeccable recordkeeping, tracking, follow-through, managing complex financial issues, and reporting. This position works closely with the Operations Team and fundraising consultants, supports program leaders in budget development and management, and interfaces with all staff, members, Steering Council and the general public.This is not a traditional bookkeeping or accounting role that solely works on the backend, we are looking for someone who will integrate and engage with our team and membership.
CORE RESPONSIBILITIES. The core responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
60% FINANCIAL MANAGEMENT
30% BUDGET MANAGEMENT
10% CONTRIBUTE TO OVERALL EFFECTIVE FUNCTIONING OF HEAL
QUALIFICATIONS
Detail-Oriented: Must have the ability to organize and track materials, set priorities between multiple demands, and meticulously track financial details.
Experienced: Must have at least 3 years experience with managing and tracking financials and developing and managing budgets at a similar scale. Must have experience with nonprofit financials and financial reporting.
Communicative: Must have excellent English language skills in all areas of verbal and written communications, and be skilled in interpersonal relations.
Adaptive: Must be able to work effectively with individuals with a wide range of professional experience, budget savviness, and financial literacy levels. Must be willing to work effectively with various systems and processes, adapting as organizational circumstances and timelines change.
Organized: Must be able to prioritize, take initiative, be independent, accountable, and comfortable managing projects remotely.
Collaborative: Must excel as a team player, demonstrating strong listening and communication skills and an appreciation for working with others
Tech Savvy: Must be able to utilize Google suite, Microsoft Office, bookkeeping software, CRMs like Airtable, and online project tracking and communication tools such as Asana and Slack.
Values Alignment: Demonstrated understanding of the intersections of racial, economic, and environmental justice and committed to transformative change.
Mindful: Must be able to steward our budget with care and adapt as the organization shifts and grows

Position Type and Compensation:
This is a 100% FTE salaried exempt position. Starting salary range is $75,000-85,000.
Location: Remote
Hours: Working hours are Monday through Friday, with an expectation to be available online 9am-2pm Pacific Time. Evenings and weekends may be required for specific in-person events.
Travel: Travel 2-3 times per year to attend in-person staff retreats and member meetings
