We are seeking a skilled and experienced Accountant to join our finance team. The accountant will be an integral part of the PWC team and manage day-to-day accounting operations, maintain accurate financial records, and assist in the preparation of financial reports. This is an excellent opportunity for an accountant with 3+ years of experience who is passionate about contributing to a mission-driven organization. This position requires a detail-oriented individual with a strong background in accounting, nonprofit financial management, and compliance. This is an in-person position. Office location is in the Los Angeles office. This is an Exempt position.
Key Responsibilities:
- Accounting:
- Oversee and manage the day-to-day accounting processes, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general ledger
- Perform monthly reconciliations of bank accounts and credit cards
- Process reimbursements and travel/event advances
- Assist in preparing accurate financial statements, reports, and records
- Monitor leases and equipment purchases and record depreciation
- Payroll and Benefits Administration:
- Oversee and process payroll, including tax withholdings and benefits administration
- Ensure timely payments and accurate record-keeping for employees and contractors
- Process and reconcile benefits withholdings and ER contributions liabilities (SIMPLE IRA, FSA)
- Grant Accounting:
- Track and report on grant funds, ensuring adherence to restrictions and guidelines
- Invoice funders/grantors using appropriate platforms and per established schedules
- Process reimbursements of expenses related to grant activity
- Manage and track subcontractor payments associated with grants
- Assist in preparing financial reports to grantors and funding agencies
- Fiscal Sponsorship Management:
- Maintain established agreements with PWC’s fiscal sponsorees
- Provide financial support to fiscal sponsorees, including but not limited to disbursing funds, financial record keeping, compliance, contracts administration, and reporting
- Internal Controls:
- Implement and maintain effective internal controls to safeguard the organization’s assets and ensure the accuracy of financial data
- Review and approve all financial transactions, ensuring they are properly authorized and documented
- Continuously evaluate and improve financial processes and systems
- Other Duties as needed or required:
- Administrative support – EA or Operations Manager may need support from time to time on research, review and confirmation of general and related organizational protocols.
- Programmatic support – Program Directors and/or staff may from time to time request support on processes and information related to their respective program costs.
- Fundraising and Special Events support – Support on processes, information and flow of funds protocols may be requested.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
- Minimum of 3 years of progressive accounting experience, preferably in the nonprofit sector
- Strong understanding of accounting principles (GAAP) and non-profit fund accounting
- Experience with accounting software and proficiency in Microsoft Excel
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills
- Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain accuracy in financial reporting
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate with diverse teams
- Demonstrated ability to handle multiple tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
