    Description

    We are seeking a skilled and experienced Accountant to join our finance team. The accountant will be an integral part of the PWC team and manage day-to-day accounting operations, maintain accurate financial records, and assist in the preparation of financial reports. This is an excellent opportunity for an accountant with 3+ years of experience who is passionate about contributing to a mission-driven organization. This position requires a detail-oriented individual with a strong background in accounting, nonprofit financial management, and compliance. This is an in-person position. Office location is in the Los Angeles office. This is an Exempt position.

    Key Responsibilities:

    1. Accounting:
      1. Oversee and manage the day-to-day accounting processes, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general ledger
      2. Perform monthly reconciliations of bank accounts and credit cards
      3. Process reimbursements and travel/event advances
      4. Assist in preparing accurate financial statements, reports, and records
      5. Monitor leases and equipment purchases and record depreciation
    2. Payroll and Benefits Administration:
      1. Oversee and process payroll, including tax withholdings and benefits administration
      2. Ensure timely payments and accurate record-keeping for employees and contractors
      3. Process and reconcile benefits withholdings and ER contributions liabilities (SIMPLE IRA, FSA)
    3. Grant Accounting:
      1. Track and report on grant funds, ensuring adherence to restrictions and guidelines
      2. Invoice funders/grantors using appropriate platforms and per established schedules
      3. Process reimbursements of expenses related to grant activity
      4. Manage and track subcontractor payments associated with grants
      5. Assist in preparing financial reports to grantors and funding agencies
    4. Fiscal Sponsorship Management:
      1. Maintain established agreements with PWC’s fiscal sponsorees
      2. Provide financial support to fiscal sponsorees, including but not limited to disbursing funds, financial record keeping, compliance, contracts administration, and reporting
    5. Internal Controls:
      1. Implement and maintain effective internal controls to safeguard the organization’s assets and ensure the accuracy of financial data
      2. Review and approve all financial transactions, ensuring they are properly authorized and documented
      3. Continuously evaluate and improve financial processes and systems
    6. Other Duties as needed or required:
      1. Administrative support – EA or Operations Manager may need support from time to time on research, review and confirmation of general and related organizational protocols.
      2. Programmatic support – Program Directors and/or staff may from time to time request support on processes and information related to their respective program costs.
      3. Fundraising and Special Events support – Support on processes, information and flow of funds protocols may be requested.

    Required Qualifications:

    • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
    • Minimum of 3 years of progressive accounting experience, preferably in the nonprofit sector
    • Strong understanding of accounting principles (GAAP) and non-profit fund accounting
    • Experience with accounting software and proficiency in Microsoft Excel
    • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills
    • Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain accuracy in financial reporting
    • Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate with diverse teams
    • Demonstrated ability to handle multiple tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
