    Description

    The Peace Economy Project is seeking dedicated and detail-oriented Candlelight Vigil Coordinators to help organize and lead the candlelight portion of the Valentine’s Day Vigil Against Gun Violence. Volunteers in this role will play a key part in creating a peaceful, reflective, and meaningful experience for attendees as they honor victims and advocate for change.

    Responsibilities:

    • Pre-Event Preparation:
    • Organize and set up candles, and candle holders for distribution.
    • Arrange the candlelight area to ensure safety and accessibility.
    • Prepare backup supplies
    • Event Coordination:
    • Distribute candles to attendees before the ceremony begins.
    • Provide instructions
    • Lead or assist with the candle-lighting ceremony, guiding attendees through moments of silence and reflection.
    • Ensure the ceremony proceeds smoothly and maintains its solemn tone.
    • Safety Oversight:
    • Be prepared to address any safety concerns or emergencies during the ceremony.
    • Collaborate with the safety and security team as needed.
    • Post-Event Cleanup:
    • Ensure the candlelight area is left clean and free of debris.
    • Help pack up leftover materials and supplies.

    Requirements:

    • Ability to lead groups calmly and confidently in reflective moments.
    • Strong organizational and time management skills.
    • Comfort speaking in front of groups and providing clear instructions.
    • Attention to detail and ability to manage materials and supplies effectively.
    • Reliable, punctual, and able to work in outdoor environments.

    Preferred Qualifications:

    • Experience in event coordination, ceremonies, or public speaking (not required).
    • Ability to handle emergencies and safety concerns with calmness and professionalism.
    • Multilingual skills are a plus but not required.
