    As the Director’s Assistant, you will be a central figure in supporting SINI’s mission of bridging Eastern and Western wisdom.     Opportunity: Assistant to the Director at the Sarnath International Nyingma Institute (SINI)

    Position: Assistant to SINI Founding Director, Tsering Gellek

    Location:

    • Remote (work from home or anywhere with dependable internet access)
    • Seasonal (winter) stays of 2-3 months in Sarnath, India, with potential annual recurrence.
    • Optional opportunity to live at the Ratna Ling Retreat Center, Sonoma County, California.

    Become an integral part of a vibrant international Buddhist community by assisting Director Tsering Gellek at the Sarnath International Nyingma Institute (SINI). This role offers a rare chance to work closely with a dynamic leader in Buddhist cultural preservation and monastic education.     Key Responsibilities:

    • Support the Director in achieving SINI's vision and goals
    • Coordinate schedules, maintain databases, handle administrative tasks, and manage basic bookkeeping, including preparing bank wires and transfers
    • Utilize project management tools and design/layout software
    • Assist with a wide range of functions, from writing newsletters to organizing documents and meeting records

    Qualifications:

    1. Educational Background:
      • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (e.g., humanities, business administration, communications) or equivalent experience.
      • Familiarity with Buddhist studies or Eastern philosophies (not always required, but beneficial).
    2. Experience:
      • Administrative experience in roles such as Executive Assistant, Project Coordinator, or 2+ years preferred.
      • Experience in non-profit or spiritual organizations is a plus, particularly in settings where community engagement is valued.
    3. Technical Skills:
      • Proficiency in project management software (like Google Workspace, Asana, or Trello) and essential design/layout tools (e.g., Canva or Adobe Suite).
      • Database management experience (e.g., CRM tools).
      • Basic bookkeeping or budgeting skills, such as proficiency with Excel, QuickBooks, or other accounting software.
    4. Soft Skills:
      • Strong written and verbal communication: Ability to draft clear, inspiring communications such as newsletters, reports, and emails.
      • Organizational skills and attention to detail: Capable of handling diverse tasks, managing timelines, and ensuring the accuracy of documents.
      • Adaptability and discretion: Comfort in handling sensitive information and adaptability in a dynamic, community-focused environment.
      • Cultural sensitivity: Especially in international or diverse community settings, respect, and openness to different perspectives and practices.
    5. Values and Personal Qualities:
      • Commitment to personal growth: Desire to engage in Buddhist practices or support a Buddhist community's mission.
      • Service-oriented mindset: Enjoyment of a supportive role that includes compassionate service to the community.
