Job Listing Templates to Support Your Hiring

Crafting an eye-catching job listing can be just as daunting as facing that blank page. Where to begin?

Here at Idealist, it remains our goal to make the recruitment and hiring process as efficient (and unscary!) as possible. To help you get your 2024 hiring off the ground, we’ve developed these templates (and a bit of a step-by-step guide) to help you create listings for a variety of job functions and levels of employment. 

In 2023, we spent a significant amount of time learning what attracts our job seekers to particular listings. After gathering that intel straight from the source, we combined it with our expert knowledge to produce these refreshed and re-released templates.

Job-Function Specific Templates

Administrative Job Listing Template

  • This template is designed for administrative roles, but similar titles would fit comfortably here as well, such as operations, office management, and the like.

Development Job Listing Template

  • This template is designed for development roles, but it may also be applicable to more specific fundraising roles, like major gifts, planned giving, and corporate giving.

Programs Job Listing Template

  • This template is designed for program roles that are focused on conducting work related to your organization’s mission.

  • This is a general template for coordinator-level roles and can be customized for coordinator-level roles in any department at your organization.

  • This is a general template for senior director-level roles and can be customized for senior director-level roles across any department at your organization.
