  • About Us

    Art in Tanzania (AIT) is a self-sustainable Non Government Organisation (NGO) registered in Tanzania, Zanzibar and Finland. Established in Dar es Salaam in 2001, Art in Tanzania currently has volunteer and internship centres in Dar es Salaam, Moshi, the Maasai tribal lands, Karatu, and Zanzibar. Over the course of a year, AIT receives over 1,000 volunteers and interns, with approximately 60 volunteers/interns in country at one time.

    The volunteer's community work focuses on assisting in Educational, Cultural and Medical projects including Nursery, Primary and Secondary Education assistance, Orphan care, Women's Groups, HIV awareness, Adult English Classes, Music production, Arts and Handicrafts and Magazine publishing.

    Our largest program is Children's Agenda Tanzania in coalition with UNICEF, Save the Children and others.

    Art in Tanzania's Mission: Advancement of community development through volunteer and intern projects in the fields of education, HIV/AIDS awareness, construction, sports programs and orphan care and the development of media (Mzuka Records and Fiesta Magazine) to promote social awareness.
