    About Us

The Schools, Health & Library Broadband (SHLB) Coalition (pronounced “SHELL-bee” Coalition) is a non-profit, 501(c)(3) advocacy organization based in Washington D.C. The SHLB Coalition’s mission is to promote open, affordable, high-capacity broadband Internet connections to anchor institutions and their communities throughout the U.S. The Coalition is founded on the belief that low-cost, high-speed connections to the Internet enable schools, libraries, health providers and other anchor institutions to accomplish their missions and serve their communities.

The SHLB Coalition brings visibility to the broadband needs of “community anchor institutions” and works with the Federal Communications Commission, the Executive Branch, Congress, and select state and local officials to support broadband policies to accomplish these goals.
