  • About Us

Friends of Dag Hammarskjold Plaza is a community-based nonprofit organization whose mission is the care and beautification of the municipal park known as Dag Hammarskjold Plaza, located in midtown Manhattan on East 47th Street between 1st and 2nd Avenues. The park's historical role as Gateway to the United Nations makes it the site of demonstrations, rallies and cultural festivities from many countries. In addition to keeping the park clean and green, we organize events to foster community and promote park stewardship. We are a member supported, volunteer organization, and we work with NYC Parks Department and other city agencies to make sure this public amenity thrives.
