  • About Us

About FVAP: Family Violence Appellate Project is a California and Washington State non-profit organization dedicated specifically to support survivors of domestic violence and other forms of intimate partner, family, and gender-based abuse to get a chance at justice by appealing harmful trial court decisions, for free. For the past decade, FVAP’s mission has been to promote and support the safety and well-being of survivors and their children. We appeal and overturn court decisions that put survivors and/or their children at risk of ongoing abuse. By working at the appellate court level, our cases set statewide legal precedent that can help thousands of survivors and children. FVAP serves a diverse clientele throughout California and Washington, including individuals and advocates and rural, suburban, and urban populations.

Diversity, equity, inclusion, accessibility and justice are core values at FVAP. Our team is committed to upholding and operating anti-oppression practices and policies and antiracist policies. We believe that diverse perspectives result in more creative, powerful, and effective solutions. We stand for creating a fair and accessible legal system that promotes a just society.
