    Description

    The Communications and Education Associate will add capacity and expand CED’s work to “educate and inspire people who seek a world beyond capitalism.” This position will support CED’s ability to develop and deliver high quality communications and learning experiences across a range of audiences as part of our strategy to power movements for economic democracy. They will be an integral part of CED’s CommsEd Hub, which manages its own projects and provides support to all other CED programs and campaigns. Visit our website for a full overview of our programs and partners. The Communications and Education Associate will also participate in regular CED staff meetings and organizational responsibilities. CED has a strong and growing culture of internal participatory governance, inspired by the Worker Self-Directed Nonprofit model. This is a hybrid (remote and in-person) Boston-based position, and will work out of our Boston-based headquarters. On occasion, evening and weekend work will be part of this role. The priority deadline for applications is October 18, 2024. Applications will be considered on a rolling basis afterwards.

    ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES

    Our communications and education work is collectively held by CED’s “CommsEd Hub,” which will be a team of four. You will be expected to contribute to CED’s overall organizational communications, as well as several CED program areas, in the following ways:

    • Coalition and Program Communications
      • Create content for social media platforms (e.g. Twitter, Facebook, Instagram), newsletters, press, and websites in support of CED’s coalitions and programs (e.g. the Better Budget Alliance, Coalition for Worker Ownership and Power, etc.)
    • Organizational-wide Communications & Infrastructure
      • Regularly create content for and maintain CED’s social media accounts, website, and fundraising communications representing CED’s work
      • Create content for and support the design and distribution of newsletters
      • Support with setting, executing, and evaluating the strategy for all communications opportunities for the organization
      • Support data maintenance and reporting related to social media and CED’s CRM
    • Narrative power-building
      • Support CED’s narrative initiatives to inspire and catalyze action toward community ownership and collective governance of economic resources.
      • Support other projects at state, regional, and national levels that build narrative power with community members, grassroots organizations, and coalitions as they emerge.
    • Education Programming
      • Coordinate all logistics for several in-person and virtual Economics for Emancipation workshops, including participant outreach and communication
      • Lead planning and support facilitation of workshops in coordination with relevant partners and guest facilitators
      • Support with curriculum development, including new curriculum related to co-governance, economic democracy, and movement finance
      • Plan and facilitate in-person education programming in support of CED programming and coalitions.
    • Participate in CED’s organizational development and culture work (all staff):
      • Team Meetings - participate in all-staff meetings, retreats, Program Circle meetings, and Organizational Development Circle (time bound), including rotating facilitation and notetaking roles
      • Team Responsibilities - fulfill general CED staff responsibilities, such as participating in Accountability Processes, annual budgeting, team goal setting, supporting fundraising etc.
      • Participate in co-learning with other members of the CED team
      • Support coordination between the CommsEd Hub and other circles within CED.
