    About RLC

    Rescuing Leftover Cuisine (RLC) is a national 501(c)3 nonprofit dedicated to redistributing excess food from businesses to nonprofits serving people experiencing food insecurity. We work alongside our dedicated network of food rescuers and partner with organizations of all sizes and sectors, to repurpose surplus ranging from as little as 5 pounds to as much as 500+ pallets. Our mission is to reduce food waste, promote sustainability, and enhance food security. Since RLC was founded in 2013, we’ve rescued over 17 million pounds of food, prevented 37M+ pounds of emissions, and provided 13M+ meals to communities in need.

    The Position

    The Development Manager will play a key role in advancing the mission of Rescuing Leftover Cuisine (RLC) by supporting fundraising initiatives, donor engagement, and grant processes. This position requires a detail-oriented, proactive individual passionate about nonprofit development and ready to contribute to achieving RLC’s ambitious goals.

    Responsibilities

    Donor Research and Pipeline Management

    • Research 25 potential individual donors weekly to identify alignment with RLC's mission.
    • Update the donor pipeline with notes, next steps, and relevant information.
    • Participate in weekly meetings to discuss donor progress and strategize engagement approaches.

    Reporting and Data Management

    • Create and maintain key reports, including Board and Advisory Board give/get summaries and weekly KPI trackers.
    • Support the Development Director in preparing additional reports such as donor retention and marketing performance.
    • Ensure accurate and updated donor data, including contact information and acknowledgment records.

    Acknowledgment and Stewardship

    • Manage the Acknowledgment Tracker to ensure timely and personalized communication with donors, including handwritten cards.
    • Assign acknowledgment tasks to leadership as appropriate and monitor completion.

    Event and Platform Management

    • Assist the Development Director in planning and executing fundraising events, including the annual gala.
    • Research post-event engagement strategies to maximize donor retention and after-event contributions.
    • Oversee external giving platforms such as Givergy, GlobalGiving, and GivingTuesday to ensure timely communication and receipt of funds.

    Corporate and Foundation Giving

    • Collaborate with the Grants Director weekly to update on grant applications, research, and funding strategies.
    • Submit 2–5 grant applications to corporate or private foundations quarterly.
    • Identify and cultivate relationships with 25 foundations or corporate partners in target areas quarterly.
    • Develop and maintain a strong foundation and corporate giving relationships to position RLC for 2025 funding opportunities.

    Qualifications

    • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in nonprofit management, fundraising, communications, or a related field.
    • Proven ability to manage multiple projects with attention to detail and deadlines.
    • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
    • Familiarity with Salesforce is a plus.
    • Passion for food rescue and hunger alleviation preferred.

    Total Compensation

    • Salary range for this position is $60,000-70,000
