    As the only agency in San Mateo County with the sole purpose of serving those experiencing intimate partner abuse, CORA provides safety, support and healing. CORA’s comprehensive services include a 24-hour hotline, collaboration with law enforcement, emergency shelter options, legal services and family-centered mental health therapy. In addition, CORA provides community education and prevention programming throughout the county.     POSITION SUMMARY

    The Safe House Coordinator works on site at CORA’s safe houses and Housing assistance programs. This role is responsible for overseeing the development and implementation of support programs, troubleshooting challenges, and providing supervision for staff working in the Safe House and Housing services at CORA. This role involves direct interaction with clients, ensuring they receive tailored services that promote safety, healing, and independence as well as creating a welcoming and healing community. The Coordinator will leverage program delivery skills to ensure the Housing services are fully staffed and operational, enabling timely access and effective support for clients. By cultivating collaborative relationships with community partners, the Coordinator will ensure the delivery of culturally responsive and impactful services, aligning with CORA's mission to create safer and more resilient communities.

    The Ideal candidate has a masters level degree in Social Work or comparable training and several years of experience in the field providing a range of programming to individuals experiencing trauma or managing large life changes (Substance abuse, homelessness. This candidate is excited to design and implement a range of programming focused on developing self- sufficiency for individuals who have experienced intimate partner abuse. ).     PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

    Client Programming Support:

    • Ensure services are designed and implemented to ensure trauma informed programs and procedures and increase quality of service and client experience
    • Facilitate regular client enrichment programs and adapt based on client feedback to improve service quality.
    • Ensure services are streamlined to ensure a thoughtful human design of program and procedures and increase quality of service and client experience
    • Coordinate and enhance client engagement activities, including enrichment programs and referrals to CORA and partner services, while addressing client feedback and concerns.

    Staff Training and Support

    • Supervise performance of safe house client advocates; mentor and coach as needed to ensure quality and timeliness of service.
    • Regularly mentor and coach safe house client advocates to promote continuous improvement in service quality.
    • Design programs that engage volunteers in offering enrichment programming for clients
    • Regularly Gather and act on feedback from clients to enhance program offerings.

    Reporting and Administration:

    • Regularly enter accurate case notes into the agency’s database – Empower DB – and update other trackers and data as needed.
    • Monitor and report on safe house budgets and data, in coordination with the Manager of Safe House and Supportive Housing, to ensure financial and program accountability.
    • Assist Manager of Safe House and Supportive Housing with regular program reporting.

    REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

    • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in domestic violence services, crisis intervention, and homelessness or related fields.
    • Strongly Preferred: Bilingual (e.g., Spanish/English, Samoan, Tongan, Tagalog, Cantonese.)
    • Masters degree in Social Work, Psychology, or a related field strongly preferred. Additional degrees or relevant certifications are considered. Candidates with a high school diploma or equivalent and extensive work experience in domestic violence services, crisis intervention, and homelessness may be considered in lieu of a degree.

    WORK ENVIRONMENT/ PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

    • Has valid CA Driver’s license, insurance and ability to drive own vehicle for work purposes to travel within San Mateo County.
    • The position may require working outside of standard office hours to meet the needs of clients and attend community meetings.
    • The role involves traveling to safe house, hotel locations, and other community settings.

    MANDATED REPORTER STATUS – YES

    This position requires you to work with children, and your profession qualifies you as “mandated reporters” of child abuse or neglect, which is found in California Penal Code Section 11165.7. You are required to report suspected cases of abuse and neglect pursuant to California Penal Code Section 11166.5.

Our Sites include Crisis Intervention Services, including a 24-hour hotline, collaboration with law enforcement, emergency shelter options, and supportive counseling. Family Support Services provides mental health therapy, supportive/transitional housing, and a children’s Site. CORA has robust legal services for survivors of domestic violence and provides educational workshops about the dynamics of domestic violence and healthy relationship skills.
