    Description

    The Prevention Program and Youth Coordinator (PPYC) position is a unique blend

    of coalition building for both adults and youth. The Asociación Latina Bienestar a la Comunidad (Latino

    Community Wellness Association - LCWA) is a DFC coalition serving residents in Tualatin, Oregon with

    a focus on the Latinx community. LCWA will work closely with TT, an existing coalition serving as the

    fiscal agent for LCWA, to provide comprehensive prevention services across the Tualatin community. The

    PPYC will be the adult-guide for our youth-led coalitions at Hazelbrook Middle School and Tualatin High

    School, with the assistance of TT staff. The PPYC is responsible for facilitating the work of the coalitions

    through partnership and community engagement. Major functions include coalition leadership and

    development, project management and administration, community and capacity building, partnership

    development, implementation of coalition action plans, coordinating data collection for program

    evaluation and ensuring project/grant compliance and reporting in collaboration with the fiscal agent.

    Essential Education and Capabilities:

    • Bilingual, Spanish/English
    • Certified Prevention Specialist or working towards it to accomplish in first two years
    • Associate or Bachelors’ degree in Social Science or related prevention field or equivalent

    experience

    • Ability to work as part of a team. Ability to relate well to a wide range of people and entities
    • Knowledge of the principles of substance abuse prevention, coalition building, planning and

    community organization

    • Skill and experience in organizing and managing the work of a non-profit community group.

    Previous experience with community alcohol and drug coalitions is highly desirable.

    • Skill in conducting outreach to community members, groups and organizations to develop

    capacity of the coalition

    • Good interpersonal, oral and written communication skills
    • Skill in convening and guilding diverse groups towards a common goal and set of actions
    • Previous experience and demonstrated skill in planning community events
    • Ability to submit timely, complete and accurate reports
    • Ability to work independently within policy and program guidelines and use initiative and

    judgment in completing tasks and responsibilities

    • Ability to identify and support effective fundraising strategies that align with the coalitions

    mission and values in order to establish long term sustainability of the coalition
