Background
Founded in 2003, the mission of the International Treatment Preparedness Coalition (ITPC) is to improve access to, and quality of treatment services for people living with HIV (PLHIV). The organization is a network of global activists, who joined forces to advocate for equitable access to treatment, at a time when communities faced significant financial and logistical barriers to accessing HIV treatment -despite effective medicines being available. As an issue-based organization, ITPC’s reach includes expanding access to high quality services for key populations, people living with tuberculosis (TB) and viral hepatitis (VH).
ITPC works with many global consortiums and country partners. We therefore require assistance with translation and interpretation services in French and Portuguese.
Consultant Scope of Work
ITPC is seeking a Translation and Interpretation service provider to assist with oral (simultaneous) and written materials translation in four language combinations English/French, English/Spanish, English/Portuguese and English/Russian. Any other languages like Thai, Arabic would be an added advantage.
Duration of Consultancy
The Interpreter/Translator will be required to assist with translation or interpretation
when required according to scheduled meetings, webinar and need for translation of reports and training manuals.
Deliverables
- Provide oral simultaneous translation in the afore mentioned languages
- Provide written translation of written materials for the trainings, webinars and support meetings. This includes translation of tools in MS excel, PowerPoint, training manuals and reports in MS word within the prescribed layout and formatting
- Coordinate the team of translators during all meetings and webinars. Coordinate the written translation workflow before and during the meeting. The coordinating translator’s name to be provided.
Education & Experience Requirements
- Degree or certification in translation
- Minimum 2-5 years-experience providing interpretation and translation services in most of the requested languages
- Experience providing interpretation and translation services in French, Portuguese, Russian, and Spanish.
- Experience providing interpretation and translation in-person and through online platforms (i.e. Zoom)
- Experience of participation in technical summits/workshops as well as high-level events in professional settings is a plus
- Experience providing interpretation and translation services on the topics of global health, intellectual property and access to medicines, drug manufacturing and trade issues is a plus
- Previous experience working with civil society and international organizations and agencies is a plus
- Demonstrated effective organizational skills and ability to work flexibly and adapt to changing requirements
