  • About Us

ABOUT THE INTERNATIONAL TREATMENT PREPAREDNESS COALITION (ITPC):

ITPC is a worldwide network of community activists united by our vision of a longer, healthier, more productive life for people living with HIV and/or AIDS (PLWHA). ITPC's mission is to enable communities in need to access HIV treatment. ITPC was formed in 2003 at a historic meeting of 125 HIV treatment activists, mostly from the global south, that took place in Cape Town, South Africa.

ITPC's activists have dedicated themselves to forming a grassroots, community-driven, bottom-up global movement to ensure that the medications that have improved and prolonged the lives of millions in the western hemisphere can also be accessible to those in the global south and other communities in need. ITPC is the community's response to HIV and as such is driven and led by, and committed to the human rights of, those most impacted by the pandemic. They include gay and other men who have sex with men, women including mothers at risk of transmitting HIV to their children, drug users, sex workers, and other marginalized and vulnerable groups.

ITPC is both a global network and a consortium of 8 regional networks operating in the Africa, Asia, Caribbean, Eastern Europe and Latin America. The majority of ITPC staff is based in the regional networks. The ITPC Global Team is the body that provides support to all regional networks of ITPC, and is registered in Gaborone, Botswana since 2015.
