    Description

    Position Summary

    Manage construction projects on identified Mission home improvement sites and community projects. Work with volunteers, homeowners, and community members to accomplish project goals.

    Responsibilities

    Core Responsibilities

    • Manage Mission job sites and provide support for volunteers and skill development
    • Complete appropriate construction tasks on the job site to keep volunteer work progressing and on schedule
    • Work closely with the Service Tours Coordinator as needed to ensure productive and safe experience for volunteers
    • Work with volunteer crew leaders to match project tasks with volunteer skills
    • Collaborate with material suppliers to ensure required materials are on site and support continuous workflow for volunteers
    • Support seasonal volunteers
    • Manage risk and ensure safe work sites
    • Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor

    Qualifications

    Core Qualifications

    • Property or project management experience
    • General construction skills
    • Volunteer management experience or equivalent
    • Strong interpersonal skills
    • Knowledge of OSHA construction standards and ability to interpret and apply building codes
    • Ability to operate power tools safely and skillfully
    • Experience working with people of all ages, especially youth, families, and seniors
    • Ability to make people feel welcomed and valued, to be non-judgmental and focus on strengths and assets of individuals

    Required Education and Experience

    • Minimum of a high school diploma or GED required

    Preferred Education and Experience

    • Bachelor's degree preferred

    Special Qualifications and Certifications

    • Ability to drive a pick-up truck with trailer
    • Completion of or the ability to complete OSHA construction safety training
    • Knowledge of safety precautions required when using equipment and tools
    • Ability to work outside regular working hours as necessary, including some evenings and weekends
    • Valid driver’s license and vehicle

    Position Conditions and Requirements

    Work Environment

    • Work on construction sites in various weather conditions
    • Minimal outdoor work on islands under various weather conditions

    Physical Demands

    • Ability to position self to move construction materials and work on projects
    • Ability to ascend and work from ladders
    • Capable of moving loads up to 50 pounds

    Travel Requirements

    • Travel to various work sites in Washington County and occasional sites on island communities
    • Minimal overnight travel and day trips with long and unusual hours

    Compensation 

    This is a seasonal full-time non-exempt position based on a 40-hour work week. The rate is $30/hour based on experience.
