    LOCATION:

    Sacramento (100% In Office)

    EMPLOYMENT STATUS:

    Non-exempt; Regular; Full time (37.5 hrs.).

    SALARY RANGE:

    $25.93-$27.91

    We base salary and position offers on experience and an internal equity analysis.

    PURPOSE OF THE JOB

    Open, review and process all incoming and some outgoing mail for all DRC statewide offices through the Sacramento office daily and in compliance with DRC mail protocols; and as needed and after the mail is handled, provide administrative and clerical assistance to the LAU. This position is responsible for a high volume of mail in a fast-paced environment.

    JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

    ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

    Essential functions are the job responsibilities an employee must be able to perform, with or without reasonable accommodation. The Administrative Assistant 1 essential functions include:

    Technical – 75%

    • Review/Research/Distribute incoming LAU mail
    • Establish and maintain mail filing systems
    • Process Outgoing Mail

    Support – 15%

    • Inventory/Restock office supplies in the Sacramento LAU office
    • Coordinate In-Person meetings for LAU Sacramento Regional Office
    • Maintain adequate postage and mailing supplies
    • Serve as liaison between regional offices/units, practice groups, support services and building maintenance
    • Prepare/Print reports, correspondence, binders, forms, and charts.
    • Maintain Sacramento Office Outreach Supply Inventory

    Customer Service – 5%

    • Provide reception back-up on an occasional basis
    • Provide reasonable accommodation assistance to staff with disabilities

    Other Duties 5%

    • Participation in outreach activities
    • Perform other duties as assigned.

    Requirements

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

    EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

    (Applicants MUST meet EACH of the minimum qualifications to be considered for an interview.)

    High school diploma or general education degree (GED); plus 1-2 years related experience and/or training; plus

    • Proficient in using Microsoft Office suite, ADOBE PRO, copiers and scanners.
    • Ability to understand and carry out oral and written instructions, to work well under pressure and deadlines, and to prioritize and handle multiple tasks, with minimal supervision.
    • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team and to be flexible with changing situations.
    • Tech-savvy individual who is familiar with document processing software and hardware.
    • Life experience as a person with a disability OR direct experience as a caregiver of a family member with a disability.

    PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

    • One year of progressively responsible administrative or secretarial experience.
    • Able to communicate fluently and write effectively in Spanish
    • Specialized coursework or training in secretarial or business administration.
    • A working knowledge of the rights, and services pertaining to people with disabilities in California.
    • Experience working with and/or sensitivity to persons with disabilities and/or experience working with and/or sensitivity to persons from multi-ethnic communities.
    • Experience working for non-profit and/or social services organizations.
    • Experience in the disability rights movement and/or extensive contacts in the disability community.
    • Experience with and/or extensive contacts in ethnic or language distinct communities.
    • Familiarity and/or extensive contacts with one or more of the following: homelessness, criminal justice, substance abuse or Gay/Lesbian/Bi-Sexual/ Transgender/Intersex (GLBTI) communities.

    • Duties are performed in office and home environments and the field in a wide range of settings, including courthouses, congregate care or other institutional settings, and community agencies.
    • Duties frequently require sitting and communicating with others.
