    About End of Life Choices California

    Our mission is to provide Californians with the information and support they need to navigate their legal end-of-life options. Our statewide organization has over 50 volunteers helping answer inquiries, conducting awareness-raising presentations regarding end-of-life planning, options, and resources, and supporting people utilizing California’s End of Life Option Act (EOLOA). We are a small organization where much of our direct services are provided by our trained volunteer team.

    Overview

    We are seeking a Program Manager to oversee volunteer recruitment, training and management, and support education and outreach efforts. This is a remote position that reports to the Executive Director. Knowledge and experience with end-of-life issues is a plus but not required. 30 - 40 hours/week

    Primary Responsibilities

    Client Services:

    Recruit, train, and manage new and existing volunteers

    Establish and maintain relationships with volunteers, recommending and assigning areas for engagement based on their interests and skills

    Train phone volunteers and coordinate volunteer phone schedule

    Monitor and provide support to volunteers regarding inquiries from the public

    Maintain database that tracks communication with clients, and includes the resources we use

    Coordinate volunteer support for planned days of ingestion under the EOLOA

    Maintain engagement of volunteers through monthly meetings, recognition, and annual (or twice a year) appreciation events in Southern and Northern California

    Maintain and manage POINT, our volunteer database

    Education and Outreach: (Initially work with our volunteer Speakers Program Coordinator to transition the following responsibilities to this position over a period of time)

    Respond in a timely manner to inquiries for speakers and presentations.

    Perform outreach to groups interested in presentations and participation in health fairs

    Coordinate scheduling of volunteer speaker team

    Build relationships with hospices and other interested groups for referrals for our services and in-service or speaker presentations.

    Administrative

    Participation in Organizational Management Team (OMT) weekly meetings

    Prepare materials for quarterly Board meetings

    Ensure volunteers have necessary materials to perform their roles successfully. Post appropriate materials to Volunteer portal.

    Order and disseminate collateral to volunteer team as needed

    Reliable internet connection (to attend all meetings virtually)

    Technical requirements – familiar with Google Workspace (Gmail, Google Drive, Google Docs, etc.), Zoom, and Microsoft PowerPoint a plus
