Our work has always coupled a necessary intervention - freeing people from detention today - with advocacy and public education to achieve radical systems change and freedom for all people.

    About the Position

    Envision’s Bond and Post-Release Manager reflects our commitment to freedom, health, and collective care. This position reports to the Co-Executive Director and is an exciting opportunity to support those recently liberated from detention by referring them to community-based organizations.

    Bond Program

    • Post Weekly Immigration Bonds
    • Maintain records on bonds we pay

    Post-Release Program Re-Design

    • Re-vamp post-release program in partnership with other members of the Envision Freedom Fund Team
    • Track post-release budget, including in-house resources
    • Develop initiatives that increase Envision’s in-house resources budget and/or expand community member access to services.
    • Identify opportunities for post-release policy, advocacy, and comms projects.

    Case Assessment and Community Member Outreach

    • Assist community members freed from detention in transitioning home
    • Work with pro-se community members on referrals to legal providers, social services, medical, and other urgent needs.
    • Cultivate relationships with community programs and social service providers. Research and identify new resources to support community members more efficiently.
    • Work with Envision’s team to ensure equity in the distribution of material and case assessment support.
    • Maintain records of case management and resource distribution in Envision’s Database.

    Supervise Social Work interns.

    • Supervisory capacity to act as liaison among the students, the University, and the organization.
    • Provide weekly clinical supervision to the social work interns.

    Partnerships

    • Work closely with the Community Advocacy Manager to support any advocacy opportunities for community members.
    • Liaise with external providers -- i.e., immigration and criminal attorneys, mental health experts, medical providers, public housing staff, etc. -- and advocate with and for community members.
    • Maintain and strengthen partnerships with New York and New Jersey service providers in the areas of legal services, medical health, mental health, trauma and abuse counseling, drug treatment, employment, education, housing, food access, and public assistance
    • Partner with community members in a way that communicates solidarity and support rather than supervision or surveillance.

    Qualifications, Knowledge, and Expertise

    • Bilingual Spanish preferred.
    • MSW with at least two years of post-graduate experience
    • Hold an LMSW or LCSW
    • At a minimum of three years experience with immigrant communities as a case manager, advocate, or social worker.
