    Description

    Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer (CFO), the Senior Accountant is responsible for the management and analysis of the organization’s financial records to ensure compliance.The Senior Accountant acts as a coach to junior financial staff and works with the CFO to determine how best to distribute work amongst the financial team for maximum efficiency.

    The ideal candidate is a mission-driven, detail-oriented, highly collaborative financial professional with exceptional data analysis skills, and a demonstrated talent for the continuous improvement of finance systems and processes in growth environments. Additionally, they have a deep commitment to Covenant House Greater Washington’s mission of serving youth, ages 18-24, who are experiencing homelessness, disconnection and exploitation in the DC area.     Level of Language Proficiency

    • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance
    • Minimum 3 years of experience in similar roles.
    • Certified Public Accountant designation (or candidate) preferred, but not required.
    • Experience with accounting systems that operate in SQL.
    • Knowledge of current audit and accounting concepts, including GAAP, FASB/GASB and relevant regulations.
    • Experience with federal grants and uniform guidance.
    • High degree of professionalism, ownership, strong work ethic and relationship-building skills.
    • Ability to communicate well with a diverse set of partners and stakeholders, both verbally and in written communications.
    • Ability to prioritize and work independently and support a team as well.
    • Well-organized and able to manage multiple projects efficiently and effectively.
    • Able to work collaboratively and be a team player.
    • Proactive, self-motivated, good judgment, attention to detail and deadline-driven.
    • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
    • Strong experience in Microsoft Excel and familiarity with full offering of Microsoft Office Suite.
    • Discretion in handling highly sensitive and confidential information.
    • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance

    • Certified Public Accountant designation (or candidate) preferred, but not required…
