    Overview

    The Initiative for a Competitive Inner City (ICIC) is a national not-for-profit organization founded in 1994 by Harvard Business School professor Michael Porter to drive inclusive economic prosperity in under-resourced communities through innovative research and programs to create jobs, income, and wealth for local residents. Informed by our research, ICIC has developed and supported highly effective initiatives for underserved businesses to meet entrepreneurs’ most pressing needs.     Department Overview

    The Data Strategy & Innovation (DSI) department serves as ICIC’s innovation incubator, with the primary function of developing, launching, and cultivating strategic new programs and initiatives within the organization. DSI is also responsible for implementing data strategies across ICIC, including managing the organization’s use of Salesforce and related platforms and serving as a central technical resource for internal teams. Current initiatives that DSI manages include:

    • Manufacturing Accelerator Program (MAP): A new tuition-free executive education program designed to help primarily Black, Indigenous, and People of Color (BIPOC-), woman-, and veteran-owned manufacturing businesses achieve sustainable growth. MAP will launch its inaugural cohort in 2025. The curriculum will run for ~12 weeks with weekly virtual classes.
    • Building for Growth (BFG): A national, online, tuition-free executive education program that helps primarily BIPOC-, woman-, and veteran-owned construction contractors build capacity and develop sustainable growth strategies. The program has served 200+ businesses since its launch in 2022.
    • Intuit More with AI: Launching in 2025, a nationwide roadshow that aims to educate small and mid-market businesses about the transformative potential of artificial intelligence and advocate for policies that support business adoption of this technology.

    Position Summary

    The Senior Program Coordinator, DSI, will primarily be responsible for managing the launch and ongoing operations of the emerging Manufacturing Accelerator Program (MAP), which is set to begin its inaugural cohort in 2025. Key responsibilities include: managing the recruitment of small businesses for the inaugural and future cohorts; coordinating the participation of program instructors and mentors; managing program operations, including virtual classroom logistics and day-to-day communications with participants; and coordinating data collection for internal and external impact reporting. Additionally, this role will support other initiatives within the DSI department as needed to meet business requirements.

    Essential Duties and Responsibilities

    Manufacturing Accelerator Program (MAP):

    • Program Recruitment & Relationship Management (20%)
      • Working closely with DSI leadership, support the development of MAP’s application form and process;
      • Manage recruitment of small business owners for the MAP program, which includes developing and implementing an effective outreach plan, executing email and phone outreach campaigns, and supporting other marketing strategies (e.g. social media posts);
      • Work with other internal program teams to recruit business owners from ICIC's alumni base;
      • Assist and follow up with business owners through the application process; and
      • Collaborate with ICIC’s Marketing & Communications team to lead the creation and refinement of program marketing materials, including website landing pages and program 1-pagers.
    • Relationship Management (15%)
      • Cultivate and maintain relationships with external stakeholders, including potential nominators; to strengthen program outreach and engagement
      • Manage regular communications and touch points with MAP Advisory Board, including coordinating meetings, crafting agendas, and fostering ongoing collaboration.
    • Program Operations & Event Coordination (35%)
      • Work in collaboration with DSI Director and program advisors to recruit program instructors and mentors;
      • Manage logistics for weekly Zoom classes;
      • Manage day-to-day communications with participants around program logistics and class materials/assignments; and
      • Manage communication and logistics for in-person program events (events still to be determined but may include a graduation ceremony and/or a cohort gathering at an existing manufacturing event/summit).
    • Data Management (20%)
      • Support back-end data-related processes to increase efficiency during application cycles;
      • Work with DSI team to track, collect, and present MAP impact data for internal and external reporting (including for funding proposals); and
      • Manage applicant and alumni data on Salesforce to ensure high levels of data integrity.

    Other Key Responsibilities (20%):

    • Provide programmatic support for BFG, Intuit More with AI, and future DSI initiatives in accordance with business needs, including managing Zoom class logistics, executing recruitment tactics, and supporting event coordination and logistics; and
    • Other duties as assigned.

    Qualifications

    The ideal candidate is a highly organized, solutions-oriented individual with a passion for small business development and economic equity.

    Required:

    • A Bachelor’s degree and 2+ years of work experience in economic development, marketing, program management or a related field OR 4+ years of work experience in economic development, marketing, program management or a related field
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel
    • Excellent written and oral communication skills
    • Strong organizational and prioritization skills and a keen attention to detail
    • Professional communication skills for interacting with both external and internal stakeholders
    • Ability to prioritize and complete multiple tasks concurrently while managing competing demands
    • Collaborative, solutions-oriented team player who enjoys working with other team members and departments
    • Ability to travel up to 10% of the year, nationally

    Preferred:

    • Experience in customer service and/or phone outreach
    • Familiarity with or prior experience in manufacturing industry
    • Experience with Salesforce and/or Alchemer
