    Description

    Culture for One (CFO) is at an exciting growth stage in its organizational evolution,

    and in the process of developing a new five-year strategic plan outlining its key

    initiatives through 2025-30. The Director of External Relations (DER) is a newly

    created position which will be instrumental in building and executing a fundraising

    plan that positions CFO to deepen and broaden its individual and corporate donor

    base, achieve its strategic and annual revenue goals, and oversee how we share

    our mission and news externally to continue to fuel our growth. The individual in

    this role will report to the Executive Director and direct the Development and

    Communications teams.

    Development, Fundraising, and Cultivation of New Partners

    Goal: Grow CFO’s annual revenue beyond $1million/year, by identifying, cultivating, stewarding, and soliciting a pipeline of corporate partners, foundations, and individual donors.

    • Identify and bring on board prospective donors. Work with the Development Director and all staff, Executive Director, Board members, CFO donor base and Young Professionals Board on investigation of potential new sources of funding and build those relationships.
    • Work with the development team to enhance systematic stewardship of current donors and develop actionable solicitation strategies and outreach materials to grow support from corporations and high net-worth individuals.
    • Formalization of major giving programs.

    Special Events:

    Goal: Manage ongoing fundraising events and initiatives offering new ideas on

    creative activations and initiatives to grow CFO’s support network.

    • Oversee the execution of the Annual Gala, including planning and logistics, ticket and sponsorship sales, outreach, communications, and day-of activities, with support from the Board and CFO Team.
    • Manage event consultants and vendors.
    • Identify prospects, develop strategy, and create cultivation and solicitation activities throughout the year, including cultivation events

    Communications:

    Goal: Oversee CFO’s communications strategy and external/internal communication needs (social media, website, media).

    • Develop plans for a cohesive external narrative.
    • Oversee website content updates, including monthly news and funder spotlights.
    • Oversee creation/updating of marketing materials.
    • Oversee social media accounts to effectively tell CFO stories and increase following.
    • Ensure that electronic folders of creative assets for internal use and external partners are up to date.

    Desired Qualifications and Attributes:

    • B.A. preferred but not required, with 5+ years of demonstrated success in nonprofit fundraising, with a strong grasp of fundraising best practices.
    • Familiarity with the foster care system, social services, or arts education preferred.
    • Track record of success in identifying and cultivating major donors and leading successful annual campaigns.
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to craft persuasive, creative, clear, and concise donor communications.
    • Fluency with fundraising technologies and tools (e.g., donor databases, e-mail, social media, and online campaigns) and donor research.
    • Experience with social media content creation and planning.
    • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively and build strong working relationships with colleagues and key stakeholders.
    • Strong work ethic and impeccable personal integrity and discretion.
    • Highly motivated self-starter, natural networker, and strategic, innovative thinker.
    • Capacity to thrive in a small organizational environment where adaptability, versatility, time management, and entrepreneurial skills are essential.

    COMPENSATION:

    85-100K. Salary commensurate with credentials and experience with benefits package. Two days per week required in the NYC midtown office and flexibility to attend evening donor events and meetings.
