    Senior for Educational Development and Training

    SEIU Local 1000 is a cutting-edge labor union that represents 96,000 state employees in ten bargaining units throughout the State of California. The Senior for Educational Development and Training develops and implements SEIU Local 1000’s training programs for our 2000+ job stewards, leaders and staff and coordinates other special projects.

    Working with the Member Strength Manager, and subject matter experts, the instructional designer will design and develop the program materials that will provide certification in five specialized tracks and include both classroom and web-based training with a course catalog, skills tracking, testing and evaluation. This position is based in CA.

    DUTIES:

    • Works with members and staff to develop educational programs.
    • Writes and tests training modules to develop the skills of rank and file leaders and staff.
    • Trains staff and member-trainers to present modules on an ongoing basis.
    • Coordinates schedules for various workshops.
    • Works with staff to monitor recruitment and turnout for workshops.
    • Revises Steward Manual when necessary.
    • Identifies and coordinates outside training and educational materials for staff.
    • Produces educational pieces for Steward’s File.

    The ideal candidate will have the following experience:

    • Bachelor’s Degree in Instructional Design or related field
    • Minimum 2 years experience of classroom and web-based, e-learning or blended learning curriculum
    • Proficiency in understanding and analyzing industry information and terminology for inclusion in easy-to-understand training materials
    • Experience in computer applications including Microsoft Office, web-based authoring tools, web conferencing, and collaboration software
    • Exemplary written and oral communication skills
    • Resourceful research ability

    ELIGIBILITY:

    Experience: A minimum of four (4) years of experience as a full time Union Representative/Worksite Organizer. Equivalent experience and/or training may be substituted for experience as a Labor Relations Representative and should include significant education/training experience.

    Other: Possession of a valid California driver’s license and automobile.

    Benefits:

    The salary range for this position is $82,608 to $119,328 annually.
