    ABOUT THE CHILD CARE FAMILY SERVICES TEAM

    Our Child Care Family Services Department is invested in offering a wraparound service model that builds on individual and family strengths to help families achieve positive goals and improve well-being. We offer an array of supportive services to families, which includes childcare financial assistance for children 0-13, help in finding high quality childcare educators in San Francisco, various levels of case management, family engagement activities and caregiver workshops.

    POSITION SUMMARY

    The Family Engagement Supervisor will supervise a team of Family & Children Services Advocates that connects families with childcare and additional supportive services for children at risk or who are currently receiving Child Protective Services. With the guidance from the Family Engagement Manager, you will ensure your team is using trauma informed strategies and a wraparound informed service model to support the needs of children, caregivers/parents and childcare educators. Along with meeting the family and program-driven deliverables.

    Key Responsibilities

    Program Administration

    • Supervise a team responsible for subsidy eligibility determination, family needs assessment and development plans, and wrap around support for children at risk (or who are currently receiving Child Protective Services).
    • Maintain expertise in regulations, policy/procedure, and best practices to support staff in decision-making.
    • Provide daily support and monitoring of team’s service outputs. This includes family engagement meetings, family planning, CMR data tracking and long-term subsidy determination.
    • Establish partners in the community, including out of county R&R agencies, to best support our children and families.
    • The Provider Engagement Coach will collaborate with FCS Advocates and share ideas on effective ways to conduct and promote trauma informed care events.
    • With support from the Family Engagement Manager, ensure service delivery aligns with organizational and department goals.

    Program Evaluation and Continuous Improvement

    • On a monthly basis you will prepare detailed data reports for the AD. These reports will summarize events and activities related to family progress and outcomes.
    • Your insights on how we create service efficiencies will support efforts to continuously improve the wrap around, and childcare services for the at-risk children and families.
    • You will advocate for and be an active participant in meetings with local and state funders, and community partners, to continually improve accessibility for early care and education.
    • Identify gaps in service delivery and work with the Family Engagement Manager to propose, implement and fast-track solutions.
    • Analyze and assess outcomes for children and families who are enrolled with a childcare provider trained in trauma informed care.
    • Creatively explore ways to build an ongoing feedback loop with childcare educators and families so that we can successfully evaluate and track data on our trauma informed principals for care.
    • Will perform other duties as assigned.

    Required Minimal Qualifications:

    • Two to three years of performance and leadership experience (preferably in the social services industry).
    • Hands on experience supervising or supporting a small team.
    • Well versed in trauma informed and/or family strengthening and development principles.
    • Awareness of the child welfare system, including race and socioeconomic disparities within this system.
    • Strong interpersonal, presentation, and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with peers, staff, and community partners.
    • Ability to work well in an administrative capacity with emphasis on number accuracy, hard deadlines, and internal systems administration.
    • Ability to work well in a service-oriented environment that serves clients from diverse ethnic and cultural backgrounds.
    • Commitment to social justice, empowerment of families and childcare providers.
    • Competence with Microsoft Office and the ability to learn and master program administration software.

    Physical requirements:

    • Mental acuity to perform the essential functions of this position in an accurate and timely fashion.
    • Dexterity to use office equipment; the ability to sit and work at a desk for extended periods of time.
    • Ability to speak, hear, and understand speech at normal room levels.
